The health care needs of Gulf Coast residents displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 who remain in travel trailer parks nearly three years later have not been evaluated. We conducted a population-based assessment of the health care access of residents of these travel trailer parks in Mississippi. Our findings indicate a worsening of chronic disease, mental illness, and barriers to health care a...

We do not know where the adage “the wars of the 20th century were fought over oil, but the wars of the 21st century will be fought over water” comes from. However, its relevance to today’s circumstance of conflict and scarcity of natural resources and the profound influence of these factors on human migration are undeniable. Moreover, although for a brief moment, the impact of these global circ...

Let M be a simply connected complex submanifold of C . We prove that M is irreducible, up a totally geodesic factor, if and only if the normal holonomy group acts irreducibly. This is an extrinsic analogue of the well-known De Rham decomposition theorem for a complex manifold. Our result is not valid in the real context, as it is shown by many counter-examples.

Since their inception, social networking sites (SNSs) have experienced exponential growth. Inspired by this, this work-in-progress investigates users’ “stickiness” with a specific SNS. Based on Li et al...

Content contribution from individuals is critical to the viability of online communities. In this study we identify the factors that are associated with the quantity and the quality of content sharing in a photo sharing community, where the act of content creation is decoupled from the act of content sharing. We draw on theories of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and find that the prospect ...

Using social theory, I will argue that Estate Regeneration has traditionally been founded on the assumption that place based interventions automatically translate into positive outcomes for residents. In essence, the focus on ‘place’ has displaced ‘people’ at the centre of the planning equation. A person-centred framework for estate regeneration puts residents into the centre of the planning ag...
