We consider the convergence properties of a non-elitist self-adaptive evolutionary strategy (ES) on multi-dimensional problems. In particular, we apply our recent convergence theory for a discretized (1, λ)-ES to design a related (1, λ)-ES that converges on a class of seperable, unimodal multi-dimensional problems.
Authoritarian populists offer a vision of state. This ideologically fixed imaginary provides an electoral-authoritarian template for how to shape states once in power. Yet not all those called are populist. Some elitist plebeians. They construct themselves as ‘the moral elite’ above which fights people’ below against corrupt’. I argue that plebeianism contains distinct government elected guardi...
Abstract Populist parties have become an important factor in opposition politics all over Europe. While we know a lot about the behaviour of populist electoral arena and even governmental arena, surprisingly little their parliament. This article studies We hypothesise that it is anti-elitism populism ‘active’ element shapes parliamentary behaviour. Anti-elitist are more likely to be ‘responsive...
This paper examines several niching and elitist models applied to Multiple-Objective Genetic Algorithms (MOGAs). Test cases consider a simple problem as well as multidisciplinary design optimization of wing planform shape. Numerical results suggest that the combination of the fitness sharing and the best-N selection leads to the best performance.
One hope when using non-elitism in evolutionary computation is that the ability to abandon current-best solution aids leaving local optima. To improve our understanding of this mechanism, we perform a rigorous runtime analysis basic non-elitist algorithm (EA), $$(\mu ,\lambda )$$ EA, on most benchmark function with optimum, jump function. We prove for all reasonable values parameters and proble...
This paper provides conditions under which evo lutionary algorithms with an elitist selection rule will con verge to the global optimum of some function whose do main may be an arbitrary space These results generalize the previously developed convergence theory for binary and Euclidean search spaces to general search spaces
