Depth cameras, which provide color and depth information per pixel at video rates, offer exciting new opportunities in computer graphics. We address the challenge of supporting free-viewpoint video of dynamic 3D scenes using live data captured and streamed from widely-spaced viewpoints by a handful of synchronized depth cameras. We introduce the concept of the depth hull, which is a generalizat...

This paper gives a new application of DEA to evaluate the scheduling solutions of parallel processing. It evaluates the scheduling solutions of parallel processing using the non-convex DEA model, FDH model. By introducing each solution of parallel processing scheduling as a DMU with some relevant inputs and outputs this paper shows that how the most efficient schedule(s) can be identified.

To assess the possible effects of lipid metabolism on insulin-mediated glucose disposal, 18 nondiabetic Pima Indian women (age 18-35 yr) were studied using 1-14C-palmitate infusion to measure free fatty acid turnover rate followed by a euglycemic clamp (clamp) to measure in vivo insulin-mediated glucose disposal (M). Indirect calorimetry was performed in the basal state and during the clamp. Th...

This study estimates the environmental efficiency of international listed firms in 10 worldwide sectors from 2007 to 2013 by applying an order-m method, a non-parametric approach based on free disposal hull with subsampling bootstrapping. Using a conventional output of gross profit and two conventional inputs of labor and capital, this study examines the order-m environmental efficiency account...

Ships sailing through cold regions frequently encounter floe ice fields. An air-bubble system that reduces friction between the hull and floes is thus considered useful for reduction of ice-induced resistance. In this study, a numerical analysis procedure based on coupled finite volume method (FVM) discrete element (DEM) proposed to simulate complicated hull-water-gas-ice interactions ice-going...

We propose an extension to the basic DEA models that guarantees that if an intensity is positive then it must be at least as large as a pre-defined lower bound. This requirement adds an integer programming constraint known within Operations Research as a Fixed-Charge (FC) type of constraint. Accordingly, we term the new model DEA FC. The proposed model lies between the DEA models that allow uni...

An underwater robotic vehicle is being developed at the UFABC (Universidade Federal do ABC) which has as main mission the inspection of ship hull thickness using ultrasonic transducers. This is a hybrid ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) due to its extreme locomotion capabilities adapted of the terrain tracked vehicles. This paper presents the surgeyaw control system of a new hybrid underwater veh...

OBJECTIVES To examine the profile of regular attenders to an accident and emergency (A&E) department, and to estimate the percentage of the overall departmental workload attributed to this group of patients, together with the resultant cost to the department of these attendances. METHODS A retrospective study of regular attenders to the A&E department at Hull Royal Infirmary was conducted bet...

We consider direct markets, pure exchange economies in which agents supply their time, when they are subject to location, time, and free disposal constraints. If agents’ entire time endowment has to be devoted to the market (no freedisposal), such economies generate the entire class of TU-games, proving that every TU-game is a market game, and thus generalizing Shapley and Shubik’s (1969) and G...

Disasters occur due to both the natural and man-made activities. Hazards and Disasters are categorized into four groups, viz., Natural events, Technological events, Man-made events and Region-wise events. The adverse impacts caused due to the indiscriminate disposal of Hazardous Wastes (HWs) come under the category of Environmental Disasters. Hazardous Waste Management (HWM) is a very important...
