We report the case of a 32-year-old woman with isolated angiitis of the central nervous system. This case shows that high levels of pleocytosis may not rule out isolated angiitis of the central nervous system if this diagnosis can be considered on clinical grounds.
Allergic granulomatosis and angiitis is a disorder characterized by extravascular granulomas, hypereosinophilia, and pulmonary and systemic small-vessel vasculitis. The combination of allergic granulomatosis and angiitis is associated with asthma, typically of adult onset, and allergic rhinitis.1 Churg and Strauss first described this disorder in 1951, when they reviewed 13 autopsy cases that w...
INTRODUCTION Primary angiitis of the central nervous system is a rare disease of unclear etiology. There is no single test diagnostic of primary angiitis of the central nervous system. We report an unusual pattern on brain magnetic resonance imaging that might be specific for primary angiitis of the central nervous system. CASE PRESENTATION A 47-year-old Caucasian man developed progressive bi...
Experiments with robins wearing frosted goggles have revealed a tantalising relationship between object vision and magnetoreception, shedding further light on the close interconnection between the two senses in migratory birds.

Amyloid-beta related angiitis (ABRA) of the central nervous system (CNS) is a rare disorder with overlapping features of primary angiitis of the CNS and cerebral amyloid angiopathy. We evaluated a 74-year-old man with intermittent left sided weakness and MRI findings of leptomeningeal enhancement, vasogenic edema, and subcortical white matter disease proven to have ABRA. We discuss clinicopatho...
BACKGROUND Primary angiitis of the central nervous system is an idiopathic disorder characterized by vasculitis within the dural confines. The clinical presentation shows a wide variation and the course and the duration of disease are heterogeneous. This rare but treatable disease provides a diagnostic challenge owing to the lack of pathognomonic tests and the necessity of a histological confir...
Primary angiitis of the central nervous system (PACNS) is an idiopathic disorder (vasculitis) restricted to the central nervous system (CNS). It often presents with focal neurological deficits suggesting stroke or a combination of confusion and headache. We herein report three cases with various combinations of fever, partial seizure, encephalopathy, paresis, headache and ataxia. One of them wa...
