The author show by embodying the Einstein equivalence principle—local Poincaré invariance—and general covariance in quantum theory that wave-function spreading rules out universality of free fall, is, free-fall trajectory a (test) particle depends on its internal properties. provide quantitative estimate non-universality terms Eötvös parameter, which turns to be measurable atom interferometry.

Power law cumulative number-size distributions are widely used to describe the scaling properties of data sets and to establish scale invariance. We derive the relationships between the scaling exponents of non-cumulative and cumulative number-size distributions for linearly binned and logarithmically binned data. Cumulative number-size distributions for data sets of many natural phenomena exhi...

Background: Insulin resistance (IR) is a consequence of obesity, and in women it is often inextricably linked with ovarian function leading to clinical reproductive manifestations such as early menarche onset, subfertility and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Materials and Methods: Likewise, the dramatic fall in oestrogen production after menopause may contribute to weight gain and changes in ...

We aimed to examine the validity of fall risk assessment items for the healthy community-dwelling elderly Japanese population. Participants were 1122 healthy elderly individuals aged 60 years and over (380 males and 742 females). The percentage who had experienced a fall was 15.8%. This study used fall experience and 50 fall risk assessment items representing the five risk factors (symptoms of ...

We report on a preliminary measurement of time-dependent CP -violating asymmetries in B ! J= K S and B ! (2S)K S decays recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC. The data sample consisted of 9.0 fb 1 collected at the (4S) resonance and 0.8 fb 1 o -resonance. One of the pair of neutral B mesons produced at the (4S) was fully reconstructed, while the avor of the o...

We present here recent results on the investigations of the mass spectrum ( S-states and P-states), decay constants, decay widths and life time of the D, Ds,and Bcmesons within the framework of phenomenological potential models. We also present the binding energy and the masses of the di-meson molecular systems with one or more charm meson combinations. Many of the newly found experimental open ...

Certain materials "decay" at the atomic level over a period of time, giving off "radiation" in the form of energy or subatomic particles. This radiation can be harnessed and used for a variety of industrial applications. Some of the commonest of these which are used in New Zealand are listed below, although many others exist that are either only used to a small extent or used exclusively overseas.

At the PANIC conference in Osaka in October 2002, a collaboration working at SPring-8 announced a baryon state, the Θ(1540) with a decay mode Θ → nK. Assuming the decay is not Weak, that meant it had strangeness +1, and therefore was an exotic state (“exotic” in the sense that it is a baryon that cannot be a q state). It can be a ududs̄ state: a pentaquark. It has since been found at other labs ...

Using data collected with the CLEO detector operating at the CESR e+e− collider at √ s = 3.974.26GeV, we investigate 15 charmonium decay modes of the ψ(4040), ψ(4160), and Y (4260) resonances. We confirm, at 11σ significance, the BaBar Y (4260)→ π+π−J/ψ discovery, make the first observation of Y (4260) → π0π0J/ψ (5.1σ), and find the first evidence for Y (4260) → K+K−J/ψ (3.7σ). We measure e+e− ...

Fall prediction in geriatric patients remains challenging because the increased fall risk involves multiple, interrelated factors caused by natural aging and/or pathology. Therefore, we used a multi-factorial statistical approach to model categories of modifiable fall risk factors among geriatric patients to identify fallers with highest sensitivity and specificity with a focus on gait performa...
