cells by cytotoxic T cells, restricted by HLA antigens, is discussed in the context of T cell antigen recognition. Finally, the statistical associations between HLA-Dr antigens and diseases are presented in a well-referenced table, along with the method of statistical analysis. However, those interested in possible mechanisms or immune significance of these associations will have to look elsewh...

Functionally Graded Rapid Prototyping (FGRP) is a novel design approach and technological framework enabling the controlled spatial variation of material properties through continuous gradients in functional components. Such variations are traditionally achieved as discrete delineations in physical behavior by fabricating multiple parts comprised of different materials, and assembling them only...

Using a nuclease-dead Cas9 mutant, we show that Cas9 reproducibly induces chromatin accessibility at previously inaccessible genomic loci. Cas9 chromatin opening is sufficient to enable adjacent binding and transcriptional activation by the settler transcription factor retinoic acid receptor at previously unbound motifs. Thus, we demonstrate a new use for Cas9 in increasing surrounding chromati...

In this paper we deal with the problem of aggregating pairwise distance values in order to obtain a multi-argument distance function. After introducing the concept of functionally expressible multidistance, several essential types of multidimensional aggregation functions are considered to construct such kind of multidistances. An example of non functionally expressible multidistance is exhibited.

This document describes the package FR, which implements in GAP the basic objects of Mealy machines and functional recursions; and handles groups that they generate. Groups defined by a recursive action on a rooted tree can be defined in GAP via their recursion. Various algorithms are implemented to manipulate these groups and their elements. For comments or questions on FR please contact the a...

In this paper we describe an approach to computer-aided sculpting concerned with the creation and modification of digital models based on physical abstract sculptures. We begin by presenting a survey of current methods for the creation of computer-aided sculptured artefacts. Then we proceed to present some original methods and tools based on the Function Representation of geometric models. We i...

Phonologists have been long concerned with finding phonetic properties which allow phonological patterns to be seen as ‘natural’ or ‘grounded’ (e.g. Stampe (1973), Hooper [Bybee] (1976), Ohala (1990), Archangeli and Pulleyblank (1994)). With the advent of Optimality Theory(Prince and Smolensky, 1993/2004), this often takes the form of identifying functional grounding for specific OT constraints...

The aim of this paper is to prove that the question “is a scheduling functionally deterministic for a given set of periodic real time tasks and a given conservative scheduling policy” is decidable. For thar purpose, we encode the tasks and the scheduler by an acyclic stopwatch automaton. We show then that the previous question can be encoded by a decidable reachability problem.

in this paper, stress and displacement fields of functionally graded (fg) nanocomposite cylinders reinforced by carbon nanotubes (cnts) subjected to internal pressure and in thermal environment are investigated by finite element method. the nanocomposite cylinders are combinations of single-walled carbon nanotubes (swcnts) and isotropic matrix. material properties are estimated by a micro mecha...

In this study, the buckling behavior of moderately thick Carbon Nano-Tube (CNT)-reinforced spherical composite panels subjected to both uniaxial and biaxial loads is examined. The uniform and various kinds of functionally graded distributions of the CNT are considered. The mechanical properties of the nanocomposite panels are estimated using the modified rule of mixture. Based on the first-orde...
