The Josephson effect and superconducting proximity effect were observed in superconductor-graphenesuperconductor SGS Josephson junctions with coherence lengths comparable to the distance between the superconducting leads. By comparing the measured gate dependence of the proximity induced subgap features multiple Andreev reflections and of the supercurrent to theoretical predictions, we find tha...

Let G = (X) and H be finite groups and let r : X ~ H be a map from the generating set X of G into H. We describe a simple approach for deciding whether or not r determines a group homomorphism from G to H, and if it does, for computing the kernel of r If O and H are permutation groups the algorithm is a simple application of standard algorithms for bases and strong generating sets. If G and H a...

This paper describes some of the pros and cons to MILES type schemes for LES. The general theory of LES is reviewed with emphasis on the current problems that are faced in the field along with how MILES schemes could solve some of these problems. A method to construct numerical methods that contain a particular SGS model are also reviewed with preliminary results presented.

In this paper, an inverse S-shaped slotted ground structure (S-SGS) is proposed and analyzed. The S-SGS generates dual attenuation poles that can be easily controlled by its structure parameters. The equivalent circuit of the S-SGS consists of lumped elements that can be extracted from the measured S parameters. Moreover, several S-SGS cells are applied to form a miniaturized lowpass filter (LP...

ABSTRACT: Bi-molecular reactions can affect the transport of air pollutants in urban street canyons. In numerical simulations, we need to evaluate the correlation between the concentrations of the reactants to know the reaction rate. In this paper, we examine the effects of the subgrid scale (SGS) on the reaction rate in large-eddy simulations (LESs). LESs coupled with an SGS variance model are...

Mapping geochemical anomaly is essential for prospecting. Kriging is often used to characterize the spatial variability of geochemistry. However, due to its smooth effects, it is incapable of detecting multi-location uncertainty of geochemistry estimate. Sequential gaussian simulation (SGS) can model the spatial uncertainty through generation of several equally probable stochastic realizations....

We present a self-consistent theory of current-voltage characteristics of d-wave/d-wave contacts at arbitrary transparency. In particular, we address the open problem of the observation of subharmonic gap structure ~SGS! in cuprate junctions. Our analysis shows that ~i! the SGS is possible in d-wave superconductors; ~ii! the existence of bound states within the gap results in an even-odd effect...

Numerical simulations were performed of a turbulent gas-particle multiphase flow in a circulating fluidized bed riser using a hard-sphere discrete particle model (DPM) for the particle phase and the Navier-Stokes equations for the gas phase, where the subgrid scale stresses (SGS) were modeled with the SGS model proposed by Vreman. The model enables the simulation of systems with an arbitrary pa...

The purpose of these lectures is to present elements of the equations and algorithms used in numerical models of the large-scale ocean circulation. Such models generally integrate the ocean’s primitive equations, which are based on Newton’s Laws applied to a continuum fluid under hydrostatic balance in a spherical geometry, along with linear irreversible thermodynamics and subgrid scale (SGS) p...

In microstrip patch antenna array, the mutual coupling is very critical due to surface wave excitation. It leads to degradation in radiation pattern and reduction in gain. In this paper, a method to mitigate mutual coupling effect in an antenna array using Slotted Ground Structure (SGS) at 900MHz and dielectric constant 2.2 is simulated and analyzed using Ansoft HFSS 13. Simulated results show ...
