This article evaluates the ability of a magnesia kiln dust (PC-8) and commercial calcined MgO (MCB100), combined with ground granulated blastfurnace slag (GGBS), as constituents binary M-S-H binders. Mortars pastes were manufactured their properties compared to those Portland Cement (PC). MgO-based mortars showed an increase in setting time higher fresh consistency. At earlier ages lower mechan...

In the last few decades, concrete industry has been massively expanded with adoption of various kinds binding materials. As a substitute to cement and in an effort relieve ecofriendly difficulties linked creation, utilization industrial waste as cementitious material can sharply reduce amount trash disposed lakes landfills. With respect mechanical properties, durability thermal behavior, ground...

A lot of energy is released during the cement manufacturing process, and a large amount carbon dioxide (CO2) discharged into environment. Presently, researchers are focusing on reducing CO2 emissions by researching sustainable alternatives to traditional Portland cement-based materials. comparative study material characterization both calcined agro-based waste ash (calcined ash) uncalcined (unc...

In an attempt to increase sustainability of construction materials, both ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) and, less popular, copper (CS) can be used in alkali-activated composites. However, such composites are often more susceptible cracking, triggered by the self-desiccation processes. The addition superabsorbent polymers (SAP) may enable internal curing concrete and prevent excessi...

Geopolymer concrete, because of its less embodied energy as compared to conventional cement has paved the way for achieving sustainable development goals. In this study, an effort was made optimize quality characteristics or responses, namely, workability, and compressive flexural strengths Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag (GGBS)-based geopolymer concrete incorporated with polypropylene (PP...

In situ X-ray Micro-Tomography (XMT) analyses with a pixel size of 0.325 µm were conducted on slag-based blended cements containing 75% Ground-Granulated Blast-Furnace Slags (GGBS) and 25% Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), or without CaCl2 acceleration. Results show the identification main cementitious phases need to perform data repeatability tests in order allow their quantification. Investigat...

Ground granulated blast furnace slags (GGBS) are glassy by-products from iron production that commonly used as supplementary cementitious materials in blended cements. The glass structure of seven industrial GGBS was investigated by Raman and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies. complex composition the induced multiple analytical challenges. Under usual continuous excitation, signal maske...

Abstract Concrete, which is now the second most consumed substance in world after water has cement as main ingredient. There a continuous increase pollution due to enormous volumes of CO 2 that are released into atmosphere during production cement. The invention geopolymer concrete proceeded reduce environmental by replacing with supplementary cementitious ingredients such flyash, GGBS, metakao...

This paper assesses the impact of climate change on novel repair Ferrycarrig Bridge, a reinforced concrete (RC) marine bridge Ireland’s south-east coast. Five unique solutions were applied to seven crosshead beams Bridge during works in 2007. The two under examination herein involved replacement around sides with either 100% Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) or which 60% cement was made up Ground ...
