We describe in detail our high-performance density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) algorithm for solving the electronic Schrodinger equation. We illustrate the linear scalability of our algorithm with calculations on up to 64 processors. The use of massively parallel machines in conjunction with our algorithm considerably extends the range of applicability of the DMRG in quantum chemistry.

1. A method, conforming to the criteria of quantitative analytical chemistry, is described for the estimation of the agglutinin content of antisera. Examples are given of the application of the method to various antipneumococcus sera. 2. This new, absolute method is discussed with regard to its relation to the commonly used relative methods.
This page within the Green Chemistry Resource Exchange describes an award-winning technology to produce 1,3-propanediol using an engineered Escheri-chia coli strain. The process is now operating at a scale of 100 000 000 pounds, thus supplying this compound as a commodity chemical. Protection Agency's 2010 small business Green Chemistry award for developing innovative technology to make alkanes...
This work presents an automated analytical procedure for the photometric determination of reducing sugars in wines. The procedure is based on the reaction of reducing sugars with potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) in an alkaline medium, and was implemented employing a multicommuted flow analysis (MCFA) approach. Sample heating to promote the reaction was accomplished using a flow-batch device, whi...
Miniaturization is rapidly growing, with novel ideas emerging in recent years. Like other fields, analytical systems have been affected by this new technology. Concretely, the capacity to carry out laboratory operations on a small scale using miniaturized devices is very appealing. Micro total analysis systems (mTAS), also called lab-on-a-chip, have renewed interest in scaling laws in the last ...
Chemometrics is a scientific discipline closely connected with statistics and mathematics. It has an important role in analytical chemistry. Modern analytical methods provide opportunity to collect large amounts of data for various samples. For handling analytical results different chemometric methods are employed, such as basic statistical methods for the determination of mean and median value...
