Alcohols and alkenes are the most abundant and commonly used organic building blocks in the large-scale chemical synthesis. Herein, this is the first time to report a novel and operationally simple coupling reaction of vinylarenes and aliphatic alcohols catalyzed by manganese in the presence of TBHP (tert-butyl hydroperoxide). This coupling reaction provides the oxyalkylated products of vinylar...

Aliphatic primary amines are a class of chemical feedstock essential to the synthesis of higher-order nitrogen-containing molecules, commonly found in biologically active compounds and pharmaceutical agents. New methods for the construction of complex amines remain a continuous challenge to synthetic chemists. Here, we outline a general palladium-catalysed strategy for the functionalization of ...

Urea, the white gold: The efficient synthesis of tertiary and secondary amines is achieved by heterogeneous gold-catalyzed direct amination of stoichiometric alcohols with urea in good to excellent yields. Via a hydrogen autotransfer pathway, the reactions of primary alcohols with urea give tertiary amines exclusively, while secondary alcohols selectively afford secondary amines.

Heteroaryl substituted allyl and homoallyl alcohols were synthesised with two different method. Synthesis of bis-allyl ethers and homoallyl ethers were carried out via reaction of allyl bromide with allyl alcohols and homoallyl alcohols, respectively. [2.3]-Wittig Rearrangement reactions of heteroaryl substituted bis-allyl ethers were investigated using GC/MS techniques. In these reactions two ...

We report a mild and environmentally benign method for the synthesis of tertiary amines using alcohols as the alkylating reagents. Not only secondary amines such as piperazines but also amino acids and amino alcohols can be N-alkylated selectively. For N,O-benzyl protected amino alcohols, both N,O-de-benzylation and N-methylation were achieved in one-pot.

In recent years, there has been a large number of what are called standard preparations, such as asymmetric hydrogenation using asymmetric reduction catalysts typified by BINAP and methods using enzymatic hydrolysis, that are reliable from an industrial point of view for the synthesis of optically active secondary alcohols. Furthermore, there are many producers of pharmaceutical intermediates t...

A solvent-free approach for the regioselective synthesis of beta-amino alcohols in shorter reaction times and higher yields, compared to conventional heating is described. It involves microwave (MW) exposure of undiluted reactants in the presence of sulphated zirconia (SZ) or sulphated zirconia over MCM-41 (SZM) as catalyst. Both acid materials can be easily recovered and reused.

The catalytic asymmetric synthesis of tertiary alcohols by the addition of organometallic reagents to ketones is of central importance in organic chemistry. The resulting quaternary stereocentres are difficult to prepare selectively by other means despite their widespread occurrence in natural products and pharmaceuticals. Over the past few years, several seminal reports on the formation of chi...

KCoMoS2 was supported on various carbon support materials to study the effect synthesis gas conversion. Next two activated carbons with high micropore volume, a traditional alumina (?-Al2O3) and its coated form (CCA) were studied for comparison. Coating increases selectivity alcohols, but AC-supported catalysts show even higher alcohol selectivities yields, especially at temperatures where conv...

a simple, mild and practical procedure has been developed for the synthesis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical ethers by using dmso, tbai in the presence of k2co3. we extended the utility of  potassium carbonate as an efficient base for the preparation of ethers. a wide range of alkyl aryl and dialkyl ethers are synthesized from treatment of aliphatic alcohols and phenols with various alkyl halid...
