In this theoretical investigation, a hybrid power generation system utilizing wind energy and hydrogen storage is presented. Firstly, the available wind energy is determined, which is followed by evaluating the e$ciency of the wind energy conversion system. A revised model of windmill is proposed from which wind power density and electric power output are determined. When the load demand is les...

Detonated nanodiamonds (NDs) exhibit remarkable photocatalytic activity towards the hydrogen gas generation upon 532 nm laser pulse irradiation. Hydrogenation dramatically increases the quantum yield, suggesting that hydrogen-terminated sites work as electron reservoirs. NDs can also be used as effective photocatalysts to reduce graphene oxide. The resulting composites exhibit high and stable p...

Charge separation and charge transfer across interfaces are key aspects in the design of efficient photocatalysts for solar energy conversion. In this study, we investigate the hydrogen generating capabilities and underlying photophysics of nanostructured photocatalysts based on CdSe nanowires (NWs). Systems studied include CdSe, CdSe/CdS core/shell nanowires and their Pt nanoparticle-decorated...

Safe and efficient hydrogen storage is a major obstacle for using hydrogen as an energy carrier. Therefore, intensive efforts have been focused on the development of new materials for chemical hydrogen storage. Of particular importance, hydrazine borane (N(2)H(4)BH(3)) is emerging as one of the most promising solid hydrogen carriers due to its high gravimetric hydrogen storage capacity (15.4 wt...

We are pleased that Dagan et al. have found an earlier reference (1) than Reiss (2), whom we cited (3), on the production of alternating single impulses in a network of model neurons. The general properties of reciprocally inhibitory neuronal networks are discussed by Sherrington (4), who in turn cites a number of 19th-century examples of similar alternating behaviors, both experimental and the...

Graphene-based photocatalysts have gained increasing interest as a viable alternate to increase photocatalytic H2 production performance in converting solar energy into chemical energy. The use of graphene to enhance the efficiency of photocatalysts has been proved due to its unique two-dimensional conjugated structure and electronic properties. In this Perspective, we have summarized the recen...

Hydrogen gas is generated by the electrolysis of liquid ammonia which has high hydrogen capacity of 17.8 mass%. The metal amides are used as supporting electrolytes to dissolve the amide ion in liquid ammonia. The results presented here indicate that liquid ammonia is promising as an energy medium for hydrogen storage and generation.

It would be convenient if gigantic reservoirs of molecular hydrogen H2(g) existed in the earth’s crust that could be safely tapped as an energy source. Instead, most hydrogen found near the earth’s surface is bound up in water as protons, H(aq) that must be reduced before utilization as a fuel (1). When the electrons for proton reduction come from the oxidation of water to O2(g), this redox che...

With the massive consumption of fossil fuels and its detrimental impact on the environment, methods of generating clean power are urgent. Hydrogen is an ideal carrier for renewable energy; however, hydrogen generation is inefficient because of the lack of robust catalysts that are substantially cheaper than platinum. Therefore, robust and durable earth-abundant and cost-effective catalysts are ...
