Hydrogen is a valuable gas as a clean energy source and as feedstock for some industries. Therefore, demand on hydrogen production has increased considerably in recent years. Electrolysis of water, steam reforming of hydrocarbons and auto-thermal processes are well-known methods for hydrogen gas production, but not cost-effective due to high energy requirements. Biological production of hydroge...

It has been shown that molecular hydrogen acts as a therapeutic and preventive antioxidant by selectively reducing the hydroxyl radical, the most cytotoxic of the reactive oxygen species. In the present study, we tested the hypothesis that acoustic damage in guinea pigs can be attenuated by the consumption of molecular hydrogen. Guinea pigs received normal water or hydrogen-rich water for 14 da...

The construction of plasma reactors and the technological process obtaining water rich in hydrogen characterized by a negative oxidation potential are presented publication. Hydrogen-rich was obtained based on non-plasma technology saturation with gas reactor vessel or glass bottles. We have developed flow that allows for contactless microstructuring modifying properties / aqueous solutions res...

After 55 days of mapping by the High Energy Neutron Detector onboard Mars Odyssey, we found deficits of high-energy neutrons in the southern highlands and northern lowlands of Mars. These deficits indicate that hydrogen is concentrated in the subsurface. Modeling suggests that water ice-rich layers that are tens of centimeters in thickness provide one possible fit to the data.

[1] Mars Odyssey Gamma-Ray Spectrometer (GRS) neutron spectrometer data are analyzed to determine the concentration and boundary of buried water ice near the south pole. The measurements are consistent with a circumpolar layer of average ice concentration from 35 to 100% by weight and superposed dust with thickness density product 30 to 40 g/cm. The region of buried water ice extends from near ...

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide and leads serious longterm disability. To determine the effect of hydrogen-rich water on the angiogenesis in the lesion boundary brain tissue of TBI-challenged rats, 54 adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were used and randomly divided into three groups: sham-operated, TBI (Traumatic brain injury) and TBI+HW (Tra...

Low-temperature high-stress rheology of olivine was investigated under water-saturated conditions by large strain shear deformation experiments using the Griggs-type apparatus. Samples at T=1273–1373K and P=2GPa under water-saturated conditions deformed under a significantly lower applied stress than expected from the power-law relation and the strain rate increases more rapidly with stress. Th...

Therapeutic effects of molecular hydrogen for a wide range of disease models and human diseases have been investigated since 2007. A total of 321 original articles have been published from 2007 to June 2015. Most studies have been conducted in Japan, China, and the USA. About three-quarters of the articles show the effects in mice and rats. The number of clinical trials is increasing every year...

AIM Increasing evidence suggests that reactive oxygen species damage the blood-brain barrier and increase brain edema after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Recently, strong clinical and experimental evidence has shown that hydrogen has potent protective cellular effects in various diseases. However, the effect of hydrogen on ICH remains unclear. The present study investigates whether hydrogen h...
