Background and Aims: Different mechanisms have been developed for connecting abutment to implant. One of the most popular mechanisms is Tapered Integrated Screw (TIS), which is a Tapered Interference Fit (TIF) with a screw integrated at the bottom of that. The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism of TIS and effective factors in employing TIS during design and implementation proces...

A 48 year old patient was candidate for anterior mandibular reconstruction by 2 fixtures of Branemark implant. Residual infection lead to removal of one of the implants from the extracted tooth socket. Afterwards, 2 fixtures of Bonefit was inserted adjacent to previously placed Branemark implants and final prosthesis were loaded in a joint cemented and screwed design.

In total hip replacement (THR), bone resorption related to the foreign body reaction around the implant causes bonding failure at the bone-prosthesis interface and adversely affects the function and longevity of femoral implants. Stress shielding is thought to be one of the possible biomechanical factors that causes bone resorption, and is related to prosthesis design. We therefore investigated...

A simplified finite element model of the human lumbar intervertebral disc was utilized for understanding nucleus pulposus implant mechanics. The model was used to assess the effect of nucleus implant parameter variations on the resulting compressive biomechanics of the lumbar anterior column unit. The effects of nucleus implant material (modulus and Poisson's ratio) and geometrical (height and ...

Abstract Implant-based restoration is currently seen to be a more reliable option with higher success rates. Biological and technological problems, on the other hand, are common. An implant insertion complication well known many loosening of abutment screw. Fractures implant-abutment may cause fail function efficiently as they leave fragment inside implant. This study aimed introduce modified d...

Lower limb amputees often experience complications with the use of conventional socket-type prostheses, which further reduce their already compromised ability to perform the activities of daily living, or to participate in sporting activities. During the last two decades, a new technology of direct skeletal attachment (osseointegration) of prosthesis to the femoral residuum has been developed. ...

Purpose – This paper aims to describe computer-aided design and rapid prototyping (RP) systems for the preoperative planning and fabrication of custom-made implant. Design/methodology/approach – A patient with mandible defect underwent reconstruction using custom-made implant. 3D models of the patient’s skull are generated based on computed tomography image data. After evaluation of the 3D reco...

The success of dental implants has long been established through various studies with a particular emphasis laid on an implant design. Crest module is that portion of a two-piece metal dental implant, designed to hold the prosthetic components in place and to create a transition zone to the load bearing implant body. Its design, position in relation to the alveolar crest, and an abutment implan...

BACKGROUND This study histologically evaluated two implant designs: a classic thread design versus another specifically designed for healing chamber formation placed with two drilling protocols. STUDY DESIGN Forty dental implants (4.1 mm diameter) with two different macrogeometries were inserted in the tibia of 10 Beagle dogs, and maximum insertion torque was recorded. Drilling techniques wer...

PURPOSE To determine the change in stability of single-stage, three different design of implant systems in humans utilizing resonance frequency analysis for early healing period (24 weeks), without loading. MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty-five patients were included into this study. A total of 45 implants, three different design of implant systems (group A,C,R) were placed in the posterior maxill...
