This paper continues an earlier study of giant planet migration, examining the effect of planet mass and disc viscosity on the migration rate. We find that the migration rate of a gap-opening planet varies systematically with the planet’s mass, as predicted in our earlier work. However, the variation with disc viscosity appears to be much weaker than expected.

BACKGROUND To investigate the effect of oxygen-ozone (O2-O3) injection on thoracolumbar intervertebral disc herniation (IVDH) in dogs. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten herniated discs of five dogs were treated with percutaneous injection of an O2-O3 gas mixture with O3 concentration of 32 microg/microl intradiscally (1.5-2 microl) under fluoroscopy guidance. RESULTS Five weeks after treatment, the...

Congenital and surgical defects of the neural arches of the spine have provided sonic windows and new applications for sonography in neuroradiology [1, 2]. The contents of the lumbar spinal canal can also be seen by an anterior approach, through the intervertebral disk, as illustrated in a recent atlas of sonography [3]. However, no previous report has been found on the use of sonography in the...

OBJECTIVE Stylohyoid apparatus might be an anatomic region in the cervical spine involved by enthesopathy. The aim of this study was to assess the elongation and/or ossification at the stylohyoid apparatus in the degenerative or inflammatory diseases such as ankylosing spondylitis (AS), psoriatic arthropathy (PsA) and cervical spondyloarthrosis (CS) in which cervical spine involvement can be se...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Intervertebral disk biochemical composition could be accessed in vivo by T1ρ and T2 relaxometry. We found no studies in the literature comparing different segmentation methods for data extraction using these techniques. Our aim was to compare different manual segmentation methods used to extract T1ρ and T2 relaxation times of intervertebral disks from MR imaging. Seven di...

The results of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and computed tomography (CT) in 18 patients with known degenerative disk disease of the lumbar spine were compared. In 60 intervertebral disk levels studied, there were 17 disks with degeneration and disk bulge, and 15 herniated disks. Final diagnoses were based on several factors, with surgical confirmation in five patients. There was good correla...
