In this correspondence it is shown how the elements of finite fields when mapped on the surface of a torus can be used for block coding over a three-dimensional signal space. The block codes are useful for data transmission using the recently defined Mannheim distance.

We prove that every chainable continuum can be mapped into a dendroid such that all point-inverses consist of at most three points. In particular, it follows that there exists a finite-to-one map from a hereditarily indecomposable continuum (the pseudoarc) onto hereditarily decomposable continuum. This answers a question by J. Krasinkiewicz.

A quasi-particle model is presented which describes QCD lattice results for the 0, 2 and 4 quark-flavor equation of state. The results are mapped to finite baryo-chemical potentials. As an application of the model we make a prediction of deconfined matter with appropriate inclusion of strange quarks and consider pure quark stars.
