Oak wood barrel sanitization is crucial in terms of food safety, since barrels enrich the wine aromas and taste sensation provide physico-chemical stability. The most used method sulphuring; however, there a European prohibition (Directive 98/8/CE2) that does not allow use this method. For reason, aim present work was to study an alternative technology, atmospheric pressure cold plasma (APCP) s...

Xist RNA inactivates one mammalian X chromosome (the Xi) by associating with it in cis. The mechanism of this interaction is unresolved. Jeon and Lee (2011) now show that YY1 binds both Xist RNA and DNA, thereby providing a mechanism to anchor Xist to the Xi and facilitate X chromosome inactivation.

TiO2 nanostructured films were synthesized by an aerosol chemical vapor deposition (ACVD) method with different controlled morphologies: columnar, granular, and branched structures for the photocatalytic inactivation of Escherichia coli (E. coli) in water. Effects of film morphology and external applied voltage on inactivation rate were investigated. As-prepared films were characterized using s...

The microbial inactivation/sterilization is an important part of our daily healthy life. This paper presents the overview on the sterilization process. Comparing the effectiveness of the sterilization agents it has been found that the short High Electric Field [HEF] pulse is the most efficient inactivation agent. This HEF pulse creates pores on the cell surface and kills the cell. Electroporati...
