Exposure to constant light causes extensive rod photoreceptor damage but spares the photopic system in albino rats. The rod branch of the dark-adaptation curve shows considerable elevation in threshold; the cone branch is hardly affected. We describe an unusual electrocardiographic (ECG) case of an alternating P-wave configuration that spares other ECG components. Hyponatremia due to chronic indapamide use was proposed as a plausible cause of this ECG phenomenon because its correction led to the recovery of a steady P-wave morphology.
