Density functional theory calculations were used to investigate the stability of single walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) attached to nanoparticles. The total energies and the adhesion energies between the CNTs and the nanoparticles were calculated for systems where the nanoparticles were either pure Ni or Ni carbide. It was found that the adhesion between the CNT and a pure Ni cluster is stronger...
Large-scale Ni-doped ZnO nanowire (NW) arrays are grown. The electrical conductivity of a single Ni-doped ZnO NW has been increased for 30 times. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of the doped ZnO NWs has a red shift, suggesting possible doping induced band edge bending. The doped NW arrays could be the basis for building integrated nanoscale transistors, sensors, and photodetectors.
Abstract Lately novel strategies to enhance the sensing properties on iron oxide have been proposed achieve high performance gas sensors for acetone detection. In this working report, synthesis of iron-glycerate (Fe-Gly) using glycerol combine with Fe 3+ is first presented. Depending thermal treatment, compound can evolve into ?-Fe 2 O 3 , ?/?-Fe and ?-Fe . shows better as far detection concern...
We report a new type of magnetic nanofluids, which is based on a hybrid composite of nanodiamond and nickel (ND-Ni) nanoparticles. We prepared the nanoparticles by an in-situ method involving the dispersion of caboxylated nanodiamond (c-ND) nanoparticles in ethylene glycol (EG) followed by mixing of nickel chloride and, at the reaction temperature of 140°C, the use of sodium borohydrate as the ...

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is the leading material for self-cleaning applications due to its chemical inertness, mechanical robustness, durability to extended photocatalytic cycling, low cost and high photocatalytic activity. There has been a concerted effort to try and improve the material’s functional properties through impurity doping; altering the band structure and electronic transport proper...
Undoped and Sn, Ni-doped nanostructured ZnO thin films were deposited on glass substrates using a successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method at room temperature. The SILAR deposited zinc oxide films have been rapid photothermal processing (RPP) at various temperatures to study the effect of annealing on the sensing properties. Structural, electrical and sensing properties wer...
High-density (>98% of full density) nanocrystalline invar alloys with significantly enhanced hardness (>240 in Vicker’s hardness) were prepared by sintering compacted Fe-Ni nanoparticles in hydrogen. The precursor Fe-Ni nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrogen plasma evaporation of bulk Fe61Ni39 alloys. The size and the productivity of the Fe-Ni nanoparticles increased with increasing hydroge...
Amorphous magnetic Ni-Co-B nanoparticles with an average size of 5 nm were added to precursor powders of MgB2 superconductor. The preparation procedure for MgB2 pellets was optimized for obtaining the best critical current density ( Jc) at elevated magnetic fields. Addition of Ni-Co-B decreases the Jc for heat treatment of precursor powders at 650 ° C. Heat treatments at 770 ° C and higher impr...
