We study excitation of gap solitons under the conditions of coherent perfect absorption (CPA). Our system consists of a symmetric periodic structure with alternating Kerr nonlinear and linear layers, illuminated from both the ends. We show near-total transfer of incident light energy into the gap solitons resulting in null-scattering. We also report on the nonlinear super-scattering (SS) states...

A system of semi-discrete coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations is studied. To show the complete integrability of the model with multiple components, we extend the discrete version of the inverse scattering method for the single-component discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation proposed by Ablowitz and Ladik. By means of the extension, the initial-value problem of the model is solved. Further...

A new integrable nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equation is introduced. It possesses a Lax pair and an infinite number of conservation laws and is PT symmetric. The inverse scattering transform and scattering data with suitable symmetries are discussed. A method to find pure soliton solutions is given. An explicit breathing one soliton solution is found. Key properties are discussed and contras...

Nonlinear optical property of transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) nanosheet dispersions, including MoS2, MoSe2, WS2, and WSe2, was performed by using Z-scan technique with ns pulsed laser at 1064 nm and 532 nm. The results demonstrate that the TMDC dispersions exhibit significant optical limiting response at 1064 nm due to nonlinear scattering, in contrast to the combined effect of both satu...

New type of nonlinear (anharmonic) excitations — bushes of vibrational modes — in physical systems with point or space symmetry are discussed. All infrared active and Raman active bushes for C60 fulerene are found by means of special group-theoretical methods.

We observe nonlinear scattering of K atomic bright solitons launched in a onedimensional (1D) speckle disorder. We directly compare it with the scattering of non-interacting particles in the same disorder. The atoms in the soliton tend to be collectively either reflected or transmitted, in contrast with the behavior of independent particles in the singlescattering regime, thus demonstrating a c...

The nonlinear interaction between Near-Infrared (NIR) and Terahertz pulses is principally investigated as a means for the detection of radiation in the hardly accessible THz spectral region. Most studies have targeted second-order nonlinear processes, given their higher efficiencies, and only a limited number have addressed third-order nonlinear interactions, mainly investigating four-wave mixi...

We propose a general algebraic analytic scheme for the spectral transform of solutions of nonlinear evolution equations. This allows us to give the general integrable evolution corresponding to an arbitrary time and space dependence of the spectral transform (in general nonlinear and with non-analytic dispersion relations). The main theorem is that the compatiblity conditions gives always a tru...

We survey some known results concerning the asymptotic behavior of solutions to defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equations. In particular, we discuss the H1 scattering theory for intercritical NLS, as well as the scattering theory in weighted spaces for the mass-subcritical case. We also discuss an instance of modified scattering in the long-range case.

In a recent paper it has been shown that single electron Thomson backscatter calculations can be performed including the effects of pulsed high intensity lasers. In this paper we present a more detailed treatment of the problem and present results for more general scattering geometries. In particular, we present new results for 90 degrees Thomson scattering. Such geometries have been increasing...
