this article deals with the study of the two-dimensional mixed convection magnetohydrodynamic (mhd) boundary layer of stagnation-point flow over a stretching vertical plate in porous medium filled with a nanofluid. the model used for the nanofluid incorporates the effects of brownian motion and thermophoresis in the presence of thermal radiation. the skin-friction coefficient, nusselt number an...

v  Abstract—The mixed convection stagnation point flow toward a vertical plate is investigated. The external flow impinges normal to the heated plate and the surface temperature is assumed to vary linearly with the distance from the stagnation point. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into a set of ordinary differential equations, which are then solved numerically usi...

The gravity-driven flow of a liquid film down an inclined wall with three-dimensional doubly periodic corrugations is investigated in the limit of vanishing Reynolds number. The film surface may exhibit constant or variable surface tension due to an insoluble surfactant. A perturbation analysis for small-amplitude corrugations is performed, wherein the wall geometry is expressed as a Fourier se...

A computational fluid dynamic (CFD) study compared two configurations of distal anastomosis of 12 mm Contegra conduit: conventional 'circular' vs. oblique 'elliptical' anastomosis extended on the left PA, evaluating pressure and velocity profiles, and shear stress, from PA origin to the bifurcation. 'Elliptical' anastomosis provides larger (=54% difference) cross-sectional area than 'circular' ...

DNS and laboratory experiments show that the spatial distribution of straining stagnation points in homogeneous isotropic 3D turbulence has a fractal structure with dimension D(s)=2. In kinematic simulations the exponent gamma in Richardson's law and the fractal dimension D(s) are related by gamma=6/D(s). The Richardson constant is found to be an increasing function of the number density of str...

Asymptotic methods based on those of geometrical optics are applied to some steady convection-diffusion streamed flows at a high Péclet number. Even with the assumption of inviscid, irrotational flow past a body with uniform ambient conditions, the rays from which the solution is constructed can only be found after local analyses have been carried out near the stagnation points. In simple cases...

Unsteady, axisymmetric stagnation flow about a circular cylinder is examined when the far-field flow is a periodic function of time with a fixed time average and an oscillatory part of prescribed amplitude and frequency. Solutions are computed for arbitrary values of the Reynolds number, quantifying the effects of surface curvature, and a frequency parameter based on the period of the far-field...

Stokes flow in a rectangular cavity with two moving lids (with equal speed but in opposite directions) and aspect ratio A (height to width) is considered. An analytic solution for the streamfunction, ψ, expressed as an infinite series of Papkovich–Fadle eigenfunctions is used to reveal changes in flow structures as A is varied. Reducing A from A = 0.9 produces a sequence of flow transformations...

In the framework of the Gross-Pitaevskii mean field approach, it is shown that the supersonic flow of a Bose-Einstein condensate can support a new type of pattern--an oblique dark soliton. The corresponding exact solution of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation is obtained. It is demonstrated by numerical simulations that oblique solitons can be generated by an obstacle inserted into the flow.

weirs have widely been used for the flow measurement, flow diversion and its control in the open channels. attempts have been made to study flow over different shapes of normal weirs, side weirs and oblique weirs. this paper is connected with the development of the discharge coefficient measurement. in the present study four different weirs in different height are considered for validation purp...
