Optical properties of biphenyl difluoroboron β-diketonates were studied in poly(lactic acid) (PLA) blends. Increased conjugation lowered the emission energy, decreased the singlet-triplet energy gap and yielded blue thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF). The properties of these biphenyl dyes may inform organic light emitting diode (OLED) and bioimaging agent design.

The present work describes in detail the design of currentprogrammed amorphous Silicon (a-Si:H) Active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) pixel circuits. The central design principle in these circuits is described and tradeoffs between TFT sizes and supply voltage elaborated. It is shown that drive currents as high as 20μA can be achieved with very good linearity.

Five iridium(III) complexes with two N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands and an ancillary ligand have been designed and successfully synthesized. With multicolor photoluminescence and low toxicity, these carbene complexes were tested, for the first time, as living cell imaging reagents and showed promise for application beyond the OLED (organic light emitting diode) area.
