The generation of polyclonal antibodies to an antigen of interest is an important technique applicable to many areas of biological research. In this chapter, we describe a basic immunization procedure designed to generate polyclonal antisera in rabbits and two methods that are commonly employed in the subsequent preliminary characterization of antipeptide antibodies raised in this way.
Antibodies are essential tools of biomedical and biochemical researches. Polyclonal antibodies are produced against different epitopes of antigens. Purified F(ab')2 can be used for animal's immunization to produce polyclonal antibodies. Human immunoglobulin G (IgG) was purified by ion exchange chromatography method. In all stages verification method of the purified antibodies was sodium dodecyl...
Anti-helminth immunity involves CD4+ T cells, yet the precise effector mechanisms responsible for parasite killing or expulsion remain elusive. We now report an essential role for antibodies in mediating immunity against the enteric helminth Heligmosomoides polygyrus (Hp), a natural murine parasite that establishes chronic infection. Polyclonal IgG antibodies, present in naive mice and produced...
Monoclonal antibodies to bovine enteric coronavirus (BEC) were produced. Additionally, polyclonal antibodies were made in rabbits and guinea pigs and extracted from the yolk of immunized hens. The antibodies were characterized by neutralization test, hemagglutination inhibition test, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunoblotting. Neutralizing antibody titers of polyclonal antiser...
Background: SLC39A6 Protein (solute carrier family 39) or LIV-1 is a zinc transporter protein that is overexpressed in positive estrogen cancers such as breast cancer. The LIV-1 protein transfer zinc into the cytoplasm through the plasma membrane. Today it is known that just as a decrease in the concentration of zinc in the cell can cause cancer, an excessive increase in the concentration of zi...
diphtheria is a fatal disease caused by exotoxin of corynebacterium diphtheria . this toxin consists of two chains, catalytic chain (a) and binding (b) chain. by binding chain (b), the toxin binds to its receptor on numerous body cells such as myocardial, kidney and peripheral nerve cells. after entering, catalytic chain (a) inhibits protein synthesis and finally can cause cell dea...
conclusions the r-b-flagellin carried antigenic epitopes just like the native flagellin, while the polyclonal antibody raised against it exhibited functional activity. results the polyclonal antibodies raised against this r-b-flagellin inhibited the motility of the homologous pao1 strain of p. aeruginosa, which significantly decreased the invasion of the pao1 strain into the a549 cells and also...
BACKGROUND Erythropoietin, as a principal hormone promotes red blood cell production in bone marrow. Varieties of erythropoietin biosimilar are being produced by recombinant DNA technology in cell cultures. The detection or quantifi cation of these molecules are being performed by diff erent methods which some of theme such as Western blot and enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) require sp...
