Cold inelastic collisions between confined cesium (Cs) atoms and Cs2 molecules are investigated inside a CO2 laser dipole trap. Inelastic atom-molecule collisions can be observed and measured with a rate coefficient of approximately 2.6 x 10(-11) cm3 s(-1), mainly independent of the molecular rovibrational state populated. Lifetimes of purely atomic and molecular samples are essentially limited...

Cold inelastic collisions between confined cesium (Cs) atoms and Cs2 molecules are investigated inside a CO2 laser dipole trap. Inelastic atom-molecule collisions can be observed and measured with a rate coefficient of ∼ 2.5× 10 cm s, mainly independent of the molecular ro-vibrational state populated. Lifetimes of purely atomic and molecular samples are essentially limited by rest gas collision...

A combined experimental and theoretical study is conducted on a series of model compounds in order to assess the combined role of branching and charge symmetry on absorption, photoluminescence, and two-photon absorption (TPA) properties. The main issue of this study is to examine how branching of quadrupolar chomophores can lead to different consequences as compared to branching of dipolar chro...

Long-range (resonant) energy transfer, between g/u charge-transfer states of molecular iodine [i.e., f0(g) (+)((3)P(0))-->F0(u)(+)((3)P(0)) and E0(g)(+)((3)P(2))-->D0(u) (+)((3)P(2))], induced by collisions with H(2)O and I(2)(X) via multipole coupling, has been observed. Large rate constants, up to 5 x 10(-9) molecules(-1) cm(3) s(-1), for collisional transfer between a range of vibrational le...

We consider ultracold collisions of polar molecules confined in a one-dimensional optical lattice. Using a quantum scattering formalism and a frame transformation method, we calculate elastic and chemical quenching rate constants for fermionic molecules. Taking 40K87Rb molecules as a prototype, we find that the rate of quenching collisions is enhanced at zero electric field as the confinement i...

The EM algorithm, e.g. as Baum-Welch reestimation, is an important tool for parameter estimation in discrete-time Hidden Markov Models. We present a direct reestimation of rate constants for applications in which the underlying Markov process is continuous in time. Previous estimation of discrete-time transition probabilities is not necessary.

Introduction: We present a model of simulation of diffusion in white matter. This model has been used in Diffusion Weighted Imaging researches as a tool for employing cylindrically constrained two-tensor models to identify two independent directions within a voxel and assessing the orientation angle as a parameter that influence on fractional anisotropy.   Materials a...

Copper-phenanthroline complexes oxidatively damage and cleave nucleic acids. Copper bis-phenanthroline and copper complexes of mono- and bis-phenanthroline conjugates are used as research tools for studying nucleic acid structure and binding interactions. The mechanism of DNA oxidation and cleavage by these complexes was examined using two copper-phenanthroline conjugates of the sequence-specif...
