Large datasets are emerging in many fields of image processing including: electron microscopy, light microscopy, medical X-ray imaging, astronomy, etc. Novel computer-controlled instrumentation facilitates the collection of very large datasets containing thousands of individual digital images. In single-particle cryogenic electron microscopy ("cryo-EM"), for example, large datasets are required...

We present some related families of orthogonal polynomials of a discrete variable and survey some of their applications in the study of (distance-regular) graphs and (completely regular) codes. One of the main peculiarities of such orthogonal systems is their non-standard normalization condition, requiring that the square norm of each polynomial must equal its value at a given point of the mesh...

We investigate adversarial attacks for autoencoders. We propose a procedure that distorts the input image to mislead the autoencoder in reconstructing a completely different target image. We attack the internal latent representations, attempting to make the adversarial input produce an internal representation as similar as possible as the target’s. We find that autoencoders are much more robust...

The modal "elds, generalized scattering matrix (GSM) theory and dyadic Green's functions relating to a general uniform hollow waveguide are brie#y reviewed in a mutually consistent normalization. By means of an analysis linking these three concepts, an extended version of the mathematical expression of Huygens' principle is derived, applying to scattering from an arbitrary object within a hollo...

Eigenvalue problems of the form x′′ = −λf(x) + μg(x−), (i), x(0) = 0, x(1) = 0, (ii) are considered, where x and x− are the positive and negative parts of x respectively. We are looking for (λ, μ) such that the problem (i), (ii) has a nontrivial solution. This problem generalizes the famous Fuč́ık problem for piece-wise linear equations. In our considerations functions f and g may be nonlinear f...

This paper proposes wavelet packets for use in ultra wideband communications. The pulse shapes that are generated are quasi orthogonal and have almost identical time duration. After normalization, an M-ary signaling set can be constructed allowing higher data rate. Finally, the performance of such a system when multipath propagation occurs is investigated by computer simulations. In order to co...

Every day, Twitter users generate vast quantities of potentially useful information in the form of written language. Due to Twitter’s frequently informal tone, text normalization can be a crucial element for exploiting that information. This paper outlines our approach to text normalization used in the WNUT shared task. We show that a very simple solution, powered by a modestly sized, partially...

We show that the cut-elimination for LKT, as presented in Danos et al.(1993), simulates the normalization for classical natural deduction(CND). Particularly, the denotation for CND inherits the one for LKT. Moreover the transform from CND proof (i.e., Parigot's -term) to LKT proof can be considered as a classical extension to call-by-name (CBN) CPS-transform.

In this study, we provide mathematical and practice-driven justification for using [0,1] normalization of inconsistency indicators in pairwise comparisons. The need for normalization, as well as problems with the lack of normalization, are presented. A new type of paradox of infinity is described.

In this paper we study the robust stability of uncertain quasipolynomials, whose coef£cients may vary in a certain prescribed range. We consider speci£cally the co-called interval and diamond quasipolynomials, and our goal is to develop vertexand edge type-conditions for these quasipolynomial families to be robustly stable independent of delay. Moreover, we also present a number of extensions t...
