Approximately half of the extrasolar planets (exoplanets) with radii less than four Earth radii are in orbits with short periods1. Despite their sheer abundance, the compositions of such planets are largely unknown. The available evidence suggests that they range in composition from small, high-density rocky planets to low-density planets consisting of rocky cores surrounded by thick hydrogen a...

There is evidence for the existence of massive planets at orbital radii of several hundred AU from their parent stars where the timescale for planet formation by core accretion is longer than the disc lifetime. These planets could have formed close to their star and then migrated outwards. We consider how the transfer of angular momentum by viscous disc interactions from a massive inner planet ...

It is shown that meson radii can be extracted from diffractive scattering experiments of the type: m + p → m + X, where p stands for the target proton, and m for the incident charged meson π, π, K, or K. The basis of the method used to perform this extraction is the QCD-based SOC-picture for inelastic diffraction in high-energy hadron-hadron and lepton-hadron collisions proposed in a recent Let...

Let ρ ≥ 1 and w ρ (A) be the operator radius of a linear operator A. Suppose m is a positive integer. It is shown that for a given invertible linear operator A acting on a Hilbert space, one has w ρ (A −m) ≥ w ρ (A) −m. The equality holds if and only if A is a multiple of a unitary operator.

A′(n,d,e), the smallest ` for which every binary error-correcting code of length n and minimum distance d is decodable with a list of size ` up to radius e, is determined for all d ≥ 2e−3. As a result, A′(n,d,e) is determined for all e≤ 4, except for 42 values of n.

by Let QU denote the class of anal>-tic functions which are regular and unbounded in ;zI < 1. According io D. GAIER and IV. MEYER-K~NIG [I] we call the radius Rq defined bJ+ x = r&c'!, 0 5 r <: 1 singular for f(x), if f(z) is unbounded in any sector /zI < 1, pl-E < arg 2 < < p7 + e Fith E > 0. h radius which is not singular for f(z) is called regular for f(z). In [l] it has been shown that if f...

The melting of zigzag, armchair and chiral single walled boron nitride nanotubes (SWBNs) investigated using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation based on Tersoff-like many body potential. The MD simulation has been employed in the constant pressure, constant temperature (NPT) ensemble. The temperature and pressure of the system were controlled by Nose-Hoover thermostat and Berendsen barostat, res...

In this paper we introduce and study some properties of a unified class U [μ, α, β, γ, λ, η, A,B] of prestarlike functions with negative coefficients in a unit disk U . These properties include growth and distortion, radii of convexity, radii of starlikeness and radii of close-to-convexity.

In this note, we study the covering radii of extremal doubly even self-dual codes. We give slightly improved lower bounds on the covering radii of extremal doubly even self-dual codes of lengths 64, 80 and 96. The covering radii of some known extremal doubly even self-dual [64, 32, 12] codes are determined.
