Let G = (V, E) be a connected graph. The distance between two vertices u, v 2 V, denoted by d(u, v), is the length of a shortest u À v path in G. The distance between a vertex v 2 V and a pd(G), is the minimum number of sets in any resolving partition of G. In this article we study the partition dimension of Cartesian product graphs. More precisely, we show that for all pairs of connected graph...

We introduce a class of digital machines, we name Digital Memcomputing Machines, (DMMs) able to solve a wide range of problems including Non-deterministic Polynomial (NP) ones with polynomial resources (in time, space, and energy). An abstract DMM with this power must satisfy a set of compatible mathematical constraints underlying its practical realization. We prove this by making a connection ...

Given a channel and an input process we study the minimum randomness of those input processes whose output statistics approximate the original output statistics with arbitrary accuracy. We introduce the notion of resolvability of a channel, defined as the number of random bits required per channel use in order to generate an input that achieves arbitrarily accurate approximation of the output s...

We consider the problem of determining when a given source can be used to approximate the output due to any input to a given channel. We provide achievability and converse results for a general source and channel. For the special case of a full-rank discrete memoryless channel we give a stronger converse result than we can give for a general channel.

It is well known that a vertex of degree 5 in a planar graph is not Dreducible. However, it remains an open question whether all vertices in such a graph areD-resolvable. If so, it would be a stronger result than mere 4-colorability. To investigate the question, we designed and implemented two algorithms, one to 4-color a planar graph and the other to generate internally 6-connected triangulati...
