In this paper, we deal with a class of semilinear elliptic equation in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ R , N ≥ 3, with C boundary. Using a new fixed point result of the Krasnoselskii’s type for the sum of two operators, an existence principle of strong solutions is proved. We give two examples where the nonlinearity can be critical.

Using variational methods we study the generalization of two classical second order periodic problems in the context of time scales. On the one hand, we study a forced pendulum-type equation. In this paper, we consider the controllability of a semilinear heat equation with a nonlinearity that has a superlinear growth at infinity with Dirichlet boundary conditions in a bounded domain of RN . The proof of the main result in this paper involve such inequalities and rely on the study of these linear problems and appropriate fixed point arguments.
