Background: Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is an important nosocomial pathogen, which is of increasing frequency in blood stream infection, especially in immunocompromised patients. Objectives: Our study aims to investigate the demographics, clinical characteristics, risk factors, drug resistance and treatment choice of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia bacteremia, trying to find out the independent r...

conclusions a slightly higher mortality in patients with pneumonia, caused by s. maltophilia, was strived to explain by advanced age, higher acute physiology and chronic health evaluation (apache ii) and sepsis related organ failure assessment (sofa) score, and also higher inappropriate antibiotic use. results a total of 71 patients with s. maltophilia nosocomial infections, 35 (49.3%) primary ...

To the Editor: Stenotrophomonas maltophilia has emerged as an important nosocomial pathogen, especially in debilitated and immunocompro-mised persons (1). However, comparatively little is known of the epidemiology of this bacterium, and sources and routes of transmission of S. mal-tophilia are not well understood. The bacterium is widely distributed in the environment, including in plant rhi-zo...

Stenotrophomonas sp. is emerging as a popular microbe of global concern with various potential ecological roles. Biosynthesis of gold and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using this bacterial strain has shown promising applications in life sciences. However, there is no report on efficient agricultural applications of biosynthesized AgNPs using Stenotrophomonas sp. In this regard, successful biosyn...

We report draft genome sequence of Stenotrophomonas sp. strain SAM8, isolated from environmental water. The draft genome size is 3,665,538 bp with a G + C content of 67.2% and contains 6 rRNA sequence (single copies of 5S, 16S & 23S rRNA). The genome sequence can be accessed at DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank under the accession no. LDAV00000000.
