A new taxon of peirosaurid crocodyliform, Rukwasuchus yajabalijekundu, gen. et sp. nov., is described on the basis of a well-preserved partial skull from the middle Cretaceous Galula Formation exposed in southwestern Tanzania. The skull is distinguished from those of other crocodyliforms by the presence of a mediolaterally narrow, elongate, and septate internal narial fenestra (choana) located ...

An approach for introducing twists in pyrene-fused azaacenes is reported. Depending on the volume and the rigidity of the silyl groups, different-sized twist angles, which oscillate between 4° and 24°, are induced along the longitudinal conjugated backbone.

Bicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene-fused (BCOD-fused) bis(benzoborondipyrromethene)s (bisbenzoBODIPYs) bearing electron-withdrawing groups such as fluorine and cyano groups were prepared either by incorporating tetrafluoroisoindole moieties into BODIPY chromophores or by introducing cyano or ethoxycarbonyl groups at the 3,5-positions. The BCOD-fused bisbenzoBODIPYs were quantitatively converted to the cor...

The traditional approach to dental skills training has drawbacks in terms of cost, availability, and lack of real-world cases. We develop a virtual reality (VR) dental training system utilizing a haptic (force feedback) device. We generate three-dimensional surface model of the teeth from patient’s data and a realistic model of a dental handpiece with a cylindrical cutting burr. Collision detec...

This randomized parallel group clinical trial assessed whether combined antibacterial and fluoride therapy benefits the balance between caries pathological and protective factors. Eligible, enrolled adults (n = 231), with 1-7 baseline cavitated teeth, attending a dental school clinic were randomly assigned to a control or intervention group. Salivary mutans streptococci (MS), lactobacilli (LB),...

WNT10A is a signaling molecule involved in tooth development, and WNT10A defects are associated with tooth agenesis. We characterized Wnt10a null mice generated by the knockout mouse project (KOMP) and six families with WNT10A mutations, including a novel p.Arg104Cys defect, in the absence of EDA,EDAR, or EDARADD variations. Wnt10a null mice exhibited supernumerary mandibular fourth molars, and...
