Fuzzy logic is recently getting increasing emphasis in soft computing applications in the recent days. This paper presents an application of the fuzzy logic scheme to control the speed of an AC servo system & the same is proposed for a space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) inverter-fed permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive. Based on the analysis of the PMSM transient response, a...

During a long time, permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) were only reserved for some specific applications, however, recently, these machines are becoming more used due to the powerful magnetic characteristic of the rare earth, being used in different areas. Recently several researchers have proposed implementations combining the use of permanent magnet synchronous motor with the direct to...

The four-switch three-phase (FSTP) inverters are known for their cost-effective advantages and minimal switching losses. However, such inverter topology’s progress is lagging due to control constraints requirements, including voltage vector limitations parameter perturbations. To overcome the issue, this paper proposes a triple-voltage-vector model-free predictive current (TVV-MFPCC) FSTP inver...

In this study, automatic detection of stator winding inter-turn short circuit fault (SWISCFs) in surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs) and automatic classification of fault severity via a pattern recognition system (PRS) are presented. In the case of a stator short circuit fault, performance losses become an important issue for SPMSMs. To detect stator winding short circu...

A high-end permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor’s cogging torque is a significant performance measure (PMSM). During the running of motor, excessive will amplify noise and vibration. Therefore, must be taken into account while optimizing design motors with precise motion control. In this research, we proposed local optimization-seeking approach (RSM+NSGA-II-LR) based on Response Surface Meth...

In the present work, an integrated method of pole shape design optimization for reduction of torque pulsation components in permanent magnet synchronous motors is developed. A progressive design process is presented to find feasible optimal shapes. This method is applied on the pole shape optimization of two prototype permanent magnet synchronous motors, i.e., 4-poles/6-slots and 4-poles-12slots.
