The Wilms tumor (WT1) gene has been reported to be preferentially expressed in acute leukemia cells, regardless of leukemia subtype and chronic myelogenous leukemia cells in blast crisis, but not in normal cells. This finding suggests strongly that WT1 protein is a potential target of immunotherapy for human leukemia. In this study, we established a CD8(+) cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) clone dir...
With the development of text analysis, the quality of the computer-used knowledge is more and more crucial to the analysis accuracy, and the text analysis knowledge (TAK) has also developed by many researchers. But so far, except the lexicon, TAK for computer (such as phrase structure grammar, unregistered word recognition rule, etc) is done on a small scale. Although large scale corpus with wo...
T opening of Count Lev Nikolayevich (Leo) Tolstoy’s novel inspired linguist, molecular physiologist and biogeographer Jared M. Diamond’s eponym for the Anna Karenina principle (Diamond 1997). The principle suggests that no one property guarantees success but many guarantee failure. The Anna Karenina (TAK) bias is a logical consequence. TAK bias is more insidious than the kindred Survivor bias, ...
Acute graft-versus-host diseases (GVHD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (BMT). T helper 1 (Th1)-type cytokines such as interferon-gamma or tumor necrosis factor-alpha have been implicated in the pathogenesis of acute GVHD. TAK-603 is a new quinoline derivative, which is now in clinical trials for use as a disease-modifyin...

HIV-1 entry into CD4(+) cells requires the sequential interactions of the viral envelope glycoproteins with CD4 and a coreceptor such as the chemokine receptors CCR5 and CXCR4. A plausible approach to blocking this process is to use small molecule antagonists of coreceptor function. One such inhibitor has been described for CCR5: the TAK-779 molecule. To facilitate the further development of en...
An unusually intense sea surface temperature drop (DSST) of about 10.88C induced by the Typhoon KaiTak is observed in the northern South China Sea (SCS) in July 2000. Observational and high-resolution SCS model analyses were carried out to study the favorable conditions and relevant physical processes that cause the intense surface cooling by Kai-Tak. Upwelling and entrainment induced by Kai-Ta...
Substance P (SP) is an important neurotransmitter that mediates various gut functions; however, its precise pathophysiological role remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the effect of SP on colonic function and the effect of TAK-637 [(aR,9R)-7-[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzyl]-8,9,10,11-tetrahydro-9-methyl-5-(4-methylphenyl)-7H-[1,4]diazocino[2,1-g][1,7]naphthyridine-6,13-dione] a new ...
TAK-220 is a CCR5 antagonist, part of the new class of anti-human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (anti-HIV-1) entry inhibitors. We evaluated the anti-HIV-1 interactions between TAK-220 and various antiretrovirals in vitro. Synergy was observed with all drugs at the 90 and 95% inhibitory concentrations. The favorable drug interactions observed suggest that further clinical evaluation is warranted.
TAK-648 is a PDE4 inhibitor with demonstrated preclinical antidiabetic properties. Our objective was to develop a translational pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) model for human type 2 diabetes (T2D) dose prediction using HbA1c results from a db/db mouse study. Estimated parameters in combination with tPDE4i values calculated for the clinical roflumilast dose of 500 μg were used to transl...
