The paper here presented was motivated by a case study involving high-dimensional and high-frequency tidal volume traces measured during induced panic attacks. The focus was to develop a procedure to determine the significance of whether a mean curve dominates another one. The key idea of the suggested method relies on preserving the order in mean while reducing the dimension of the data. The o...

In this work we report the results of observations of Transient Luminous Events above thundersorms, conducted during the STS-107 space shuttle mission, as part of the Mediterranean Israeli Dust Experiment (MEIDEX). We show the high detection rate of various events and describe some significant results that may enhance our understanding of the global occurrence of these transient events.

Pupil size, as a component of orienting, changes rapidly in response to local salient events in the environment, in addition to its well-known illumination-dependent modulation. Recent research has shown that visual, auditory, or audiovisual stimuli can elicit transient pupil dilation, and the timing and size of the evoked responses are systematically modulated by stimulus salience. Moreover, w...

BACKGROUND Transient arrhythmias can affect transient ischemic dilation (TID) ratios. This study was initiated to evaluate the frequency and effect of normal heart rate change on TID measures in routine clinical practice. METHODS Consecutive patients undergoing stress/rest sestamibi gated myocardial perfusion scintigraphy were studied (N = 407). Heart rate at the time of stress and rest imagi...

introduction: elevated levels of crp are present among patients at risk for further first-ever myocardial infarction and stroke. it has been shown that after ischemic stroke, increased levels of crp are associated with unfavorable outcomes. methods: from 120 patients admitted to the emergency unit of our hospital with the diagnosis of stroke crp, d-dimer and ferritin level was measured and the ...

abstract objective: abnormal values of the transient ischemic dilation (tid) ratio are associated with severe and extensive coronary artery disease (cad). tid can be used as a diagnostic and prognostic marker of cad in diabetic patients. the aim of current study was to determine the pooled estimate of tid ratio in single myocardial perfusion scan in diabetic patients by a systematic review and ...

UNLABELLED Transient ischemic dilation (TID) in the setting of abnormal stress-rest cardiac SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) has been linked with increased cardiovascular risk. However, the significance of TID in the setting of an otherwise normal SPECT MPI study has not been clearly established. In this study, cardiac CT was used to evaluate the prevalence of atherosclerotic lesions an...

BACKGROUND Although poststress myocardial stunning is regarded as a marker for severe coronary artery disease (CAD), no study has yet compared the diagnostic value of poststress stunning with transient ischemic dilation (TID) of the left ventricle (LV) for detecting multivessel CAD. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 271 patients with suspected or known CAD underwent adenosine triphosphate (ATP) ...
