Spontaneous asymptomatic intrahepatic portosystemic shunt is a rare anomaly of the hepatic vasculature. The main clinical manifestations may be encephalopathy, bleeding or hyperinsulinism, due to constant shedding blood. The super-Kamiokande collaboration have used multi-ring events to discriminate between the ν µ → ν τ and ν µ → ν s solutions to the atmospheric neutrino anomaly. We show that the effect of systematic uncertainties in cross sections are so significant that the usefulness of multi-ring data to distinguish between these two solutions is doubtful.

Ambiguous genitalia, known to be associated with sex chromosome disorders, may also be seen with autosomal chromosome anomalies. Herein, we report a case with ambiguous genitalia and ring chromosome 13. Ring chromosome 13 is a rare genetic anomaly in which the loss of genetic material determines the clinical spectrum.

A seven-year-old girl presented with a 4 cm x 2 cm lesion of the tongue which was located at the posterior one-third in the midline. The lesion was excised by plasma knife surgery. No complication, such as bleeding, shortness of breath or infection, occurred after the treatment. Plasma knife surgery is an acceptable choice for selected benign lingual vascular malformations.
