Let φ be Euler’s phi function. We prove that a vertex-transitive graph 0 of order n, with gcd(n, φ(n)) = 1, is isomorphic to a circulant graph of order n if and only if Aut(0) contains a transitive solvable subgroup. As a corollary, we prove that every vertex-transitive graph 0 of order n is isomorphic to a circulant graph of order n if and only if for every such 0, Aut(0) contains a transitive...

We consider the class of the topologically locally nite (in short TLF) planar vertex-transitive graphs, a class containing in particular all the one-ended planar Cayley graphs and the normal transitive tilings. We characterize these graphs with a nite local representation and a special kind of nite state automaton named labeling scheme. As a result, we are able to enumerate and describe all TLF...

We find recursive formulae for the number of perfect matchings in a graph G by splitting G into subgraphs H and Q. We use these formulas to count perfect matching of P hypercube Qn. We also apply our formulas to prove that the number of perfect matching in an edge-transitive graph is , where denotes the number of perfect matchings in G, is the graph constructed from by deleting edges with an en...

We introduce a construction called the fractional multiples of a graph. These graphs are used to settle a question raised by E. Welzl: We show that if G and H are vertex-transitive graphs such that there exists a homomorphism fromG toH but no homomorphism fromH to G, then there exists a vertex-transitive graph that is homomorphically “in between” G and H.

We consider economical representations for the path information in a directed graph. A directed graph G is said to be a transitive reduction of the directed graph G provided that (i) G has a directed path from vertex u to vertex v if and only if G has a directed path from vertex u to vertex v, and (ii) there is no graph with fewer arcs than G satisfying condition (i). Though directed graphs wit...
