David Kroetsch Master of Applied Science University of Waterloo September 2007 Multi-frame Measurement Fusion for State Estimation Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) is a technique used by robots and autonomous vehicles to build up a map while operating in an unknown environment, while at the same time keeping track of a current position estimate. This process is not as straightforwar...

Much has been written about aesthetics in carpet weaving art, particularly tribal and village carpet weaving, discussing various aspects such as symbolism and naturalism. Yet, the relation between art and sociology is propounded in a different manner by the German sociologist, Georg Simmel. With a different view on society and artwork, he believes that the origin of all principles of aesthetics...

The basic assumption in model engineering (MDE) is to consider models as first class entities. One of the most important kinds of models in MDE approaches are transformation models. Transformation models define operations between different models. However, there are many operations that are not efficiently handled by generic model transformations. For example, models transformations are not ada...

Run-time weaving of distributed aspects, if performed without any support for atomicity, endangers the global behavioral integrity of the application. Existing aspect-oriented middleware supports runtime weaving of distributed aspects, without addressing this problem. This inherently limits the type of behavioral changes that can be performed at run-time. This paper presents a model and an arch...

In this paper we briefly introduce an aspect language that can define cross-cutting effects on a set of UML 2.0 sequence diagrams. Our main contribution is to weave aspects and sequence diagrams at the model level. By basing the weaving upon a formal trace model for sequence diagrams, we ensure that the weaving is semantics-based. To avoid the intractability of working on complete trace sets, w...

Recently fusion frame was considered as a generalization of frame in Hilbert spaces. In this paper, we establish several new inequalities for fusion frames with a scalar in Hilbert spaces. It is shown that the results we obtained can immediately lead to the existing corresponding results when we choose suitable scalars. Mathematics subject classification (2010): 42C15, 47B40.

The major developments in weaving machinery are highlighted. The maximum weft insertion rates achieved by the various shullleless weaving systems along with their application potential are described. Microprocessors have been recognized as an inseparable part of all modem weaving machines. The increased importance of versatility over productivity is highlighted keeping in view the present trend...

Abstract. Block sequences with respect to frames in Hilbert spaces have been defined. Examples have been provided to show that a block sequence with respect to a given frame may not even be a Bessel sequence. Also, a necessary and sufficient condition under which a block sequence with respect to a frame is a frame has been given. Further, applications of block sequences to obtain Fusion frames ...

Plain weaving is one of the most beautiful and widely used geometric forms. In plain weaving, a set of distinct threads (or yarns) are interlaced with each other to form a fabric or cloth where each thread crosses the other threads ...

Executive Summary Traffic control in highway weaving sections is complicated since vehicles are crossing paths, changing lanes, or merging with through traffic as they enter or exit an expressway. There are two types of weaving sections: (a) single weaving sections which have one point of entry upstream and one point of exit downstream; and (b) multiple weaving sections which have more than one...
