A previous paper described LWIR Pupil Imaging with a sensitive, low-flux focal plane array, and behavior of this type of system for higher flux operations as understood at the time. We continue this investigation, and report on a more detailed characterization of the system over a broad range of pixel fluxes. This characterization is then shown to enable non-uniformity correction over the flux ...

Due to great value of the time constant of the integrator circuit, a hardware defined PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signal makes it possible to build a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) characterized by a relatively long response time. An attempt at creating the software defined PWM signal leads to increased response time of the DAC converter with a coefficient several hundred times longer than ...

This paper presents a technique to improve the performance of laser phase-shift range finders. The phase measurement is performed by using a new method to extract the phase-shift data from the peak of received and transmitted intermediate frequency signal amplitudes. The pulse width modulation is used to minimize the noise effect and enhance the signal amplitude measurement. The advantages of p...

By using a non linear discrete time model, this paper shows how to predict bifurcations in a two cells chopper and analyses the road to chaos. Equilibrium points and their stability are investigated in an analogical way to determine the nature of the bifurcations. The global behaviour is studied by using bifurcation diagrams showing collisions between fixed points and borderlines. The border co...

A novel overmodulation strategy for space-vector pulsewidth modulated (PWM) inverters is proposed. The method, which increases the range of linear control of the output voltage by 10%, is based on Fourier series representation of the reference voltage.

The paper presents a drive system consists of single-phase boost rectifier, space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) inverter, and three-phase induction motor. The single-phase boost rectifier is used to obtain near unity power factor and to reduce the harmonic distortion in the main supply. The SVPWM inverter is used to offer 15% increase in the output voltage and low output harmonic distor...

Keep things simple when controlling bidirectional pulsewidth modulation rectifiers by considering the utility grid as a virtual electric machine. The advantage is that the air-gap flux of this big machine can be directly measured in a straightforward way. Therefore, as shown in this paper, principles of field orientation can be applied to control the power flow, yielding high-dynamic performance.

Recently, the V type of constant on-time control has been widely used to improve light-load efficiency. In V implementation, the nonlinear PWM modulator is much more complicated than usual, since not only is the inductor current information fed back to the modulator, but the capacitor voltage ripple information is also fed back to the modulator. Generally speaking, there is no sub-harmonic osci...

In this paper presents a literature survey on improvement of power factor and reduction of harmonics in three phase induction motor by Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques. Also presents the current status of the improvement of power factor and reduction of harmonics in three phase induction motor by PWM techniques. Authors strongly believe that this survey article will be very much useful t...

Abstract— This paper proposes a fixed-frequency pulsewidth-modulation based sliding mode current controller for boost converters. The aim of having such a nonlinear controller is to support the control applications of boost converters requiring a fast dynamical response over a wide range of operating conditions. The methods of modeling the system and translation of the sliding mode control equa...
