"Breathing" metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are an emerging class of soft porous crystals (SPCs) with potential for high working capacity for gas storage applications. However, most breathing MOFs have low stability and/or low surface area. Here we report a water-stable, high surface area, breathing MOF of ftw topology, NU-1105. While Zr6-oxo clusters as nodes introduce water stability in NU-11...

Veterinary antibiotics such as oxytetracycline (OTC) increasingly are found in the environment and often come into direct contact with soils via the release of animal wastes. Oxytetracycline is known to sorb strongly to soils by interaction with soil organic matter, clay minerals, and metal oxides. However, current knowledge of the influence of soil properties on OTC sorption is limited, as is ...

A new strut containing an imidazolium tetracarboxylic acid core has been successfully incorporated into a microporous material using paddlewheel-coordinated copper(II) ions as nodes. Sorption studies conducted on this permanently microporous material imply that it can separate carbon dioxide from methane with high selectivity.

Abstract Nano ZnO is biosynthesized using Lactobcillus sp. Poly Acrylic acid-co-Acrylonitrile/ZnO, PAACAN/ZnO, and poly acid-co-Maleic acid/ZnO, PAACMA/ZnO, nancomposites were synthesized 60 Co γ -rays. PAACAN/ZnO PAACMA/ZnO nanocomposites characterized used as sorbents for Co(II) radionuclide. The monolayer adsorption capacities of onto are 18.235, 7.105 mgg −1 , respectively at pH 4.5 20 °C. ...

The main element of PbRS (passive (bio)remediation systems) are sorbents, which act as natural filters retaining heavy metals and carriers of microorganisms involved in water treatment. Thus, the effectiveness of PbRS is determined by the quality of the (ad)sorbents, which should be stable under various environmental conditions, have a wide range of applications and be non-toxic to (micro)organ...

Metal-organic frameworks are a class of crystalline porous materials with potential applications in catalysis, gas separation and storage, and so on. Of great importance is the development of innovative synthetic strategies to optimize porosity, composition and functionality to target specific applications. Here we show a platform for the development of metal-organic materials and control of th...

No. pan0505 Sorption of Heavy Metal Contaminants onto Hydrated Ferric Oxides: Mechanistic Modeling using X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy P. Trivedi, D. Sparks (U. Delaware) and K. Pandya (NRL) Beamline(s): X11A Introduction: Iron oxides are ubiquitous in soils and aquatic sediments as discrete particles or coatings on other mineral and organic materials. They play a significant role in controllin...
