A series of 2-methylthio-1,4-dihydropyrimidine derivatives (II) were synthesized in good yields by alkylation of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidines (I) with methyl iodide in the presence of pyridine. Their structures were confirmed by elemental analysis, IR and (1)H NMR spectra. The compounds were tested for analgesic activity by acetic acid induced writhing method. Compounds IIh, IIe, IIk and IIl s...

The analgesic activity of ethanolic extract of Justicia beddome leaves (Family: Acanthaceae) was evaluated in albino rats using Eddy's hot plate method. The extract at 50 and 100 mg/ kg, (i.p), showed significant analgesic activity at 90 minutes of administration. The analgesic effect of the extract was comparable to that of morphine sulphate.

introduction: orexin-a and b (hypocretin 1 and 2) are neuropeptides that are mostly expressed in the posterior and lateral hypothalamus (lh). intracisternal (icv) and intratechal (it) injections of orexin-a (hypocretin-1) have been shown to elicit analgesic responses in formalin test. however, the locations of central sites that may mediate these effects have not been clearly elucidated. orexin...

Morphine injected locally to the paw of an adult or an infant rat is analgesic. Opiates specific to micro and kappa opioid receptors, and less consistently to delta opioid receptors, given locally to the site of injury in adult animals are also analgesic in a variety of models of inflammatory pain. To determine which opioid receptor(s) are involved in local analgesia in the immature animal, ago...

Objective: To study the analgesic effect of Caryophyllus aromaticus (flower buds) by formalin test in albino rats. Albino rats of either sex were taken and divided into 7 groups with 6 animals in each for central and peripheral analgesic activity by formalin test. 5% formalin is injected into the right dorsal surface of a hind paw of rat after half an hour of drug administration and the time th...
