Two novel cyclic hexapeptides containing both anthranilic acid and dehydroamino acid units, sclerotides A (1) and B (2), were isolated from the marine-derived halotolerant Aspergillus sclerotiorum PT06-1 in a nutrient-limited hypersaline medium. Both 1 and 2 are photointerconvertible and could be interconverted via a radical reaction initiated by direct photoisomerization. Both compounds showed...

A series of benzo-annulated rutaecarpines were prepared from anthranilic acid and 3-aminonaphthalene-2-carboxylic acid by Fischer indole synthesis as key reaction. Cytotoxicity was somewhat increased by the introduction of benzo-annulation, which was not directly related to the inhibitory activity against topoisomerases (topo) I and II. Benzo-annulation on ring A led to significant increase of ...

Atherosclerosis is the major cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD), the leading cause of death worldwide. Despite much focus on lipid abnormalities in atherosclerosis, it is clear that the immune system also has important pro- and antiatherogenic functions. The enzyme indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) catalyses degradation of the essential amino acid tryptophan into immunomodulatory metabolites...

A novel series of anthranilic acid-based inhibitors of MMP-1, MMP-9, and MMP-13 was prepared and evaluated both in vitro and in vivo. The most potent compound, 6e, has in vivo activity in a rat sponge-wrapped cartilage model.

A new method has been designed to prepare the known benzoxazinone derivative 2-(N-phthaloylmethyl)-4H-3,1-benzoxazin-4-one (4). The acyl chloride derivative N-phthaloylglycine reacts with anthranilic acid in chloroform, in the presence of triethylamine, to give an intermediate that is then reacted with cyanuric chloride, used as a cyclization agent, to produce the benzoxazinone derivative.

Motivated by the observation that the Aspergillus nidulans genome bears multiple anthranilic acid synthase gene copies, the fungal metabolome was reinvestigated under various fermentation conditions, resulting in the discovery of novel prenylated quinolin-2-one alkaloids, two of which bear unprecedented terpenoid side chains.

In the title compound, C(8)H(5)F(4)NO(2), synthesized by esterification of 2,3,4,5-tetra-fluoro-anthranilic acid with methanol, an intra-molecular amine N-H⋯O(carbon-yl) hydrogen bond is present, while inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds produce chains in the crystal, which extend along the b-axis direction.

A metal-free catalytic approach to tryptanthrins has been achieved for the first time. The unique process is realized by an organocatalytic and indole and anthranilic acid substrate co-catalyzed photochemical oxidative condensation with visible light and O2. The truly environmentally friendly reaction conditions enable various reactants to participate in the process to deliver structurally dive...

In the presence of oxygen many aminoaromatic compounds polymerize to form recalcitrant macromolecules. To circumvent undesirable oxidation reactions, the anaerobic biodegradation of a simple member of this class of compounds was investigated. Two strains of bacteria were isolated which degrade 2-aminobenzoate anaerobically under denitrifying conditions, with nitrate as the terminal electron acc...
