Some oxime ether derivatives of α-ionone (4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1-yl)-3-buten-2-one) have been synthesized. Reaction of 4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1-yl)-3-buten-2-ketoxime with various chloro and fluoro aromatic and hetero aromatic compounds gave the corresponding oxime ether derivatives via aromatic nucleophilic substitution (SNAr). The structures of these co...

We report the 5,728,255-bp draft genome sequence of Rhodococcus ruber P25, isolated from a soil polluted with halogenated aromatic compounds in the city of Perm, Russia. The strain degrades polychlorinated biphenyls and a broad range of aromatic compounds. It possesses genes that mediate the degradation of biphenyls/polychlorinated biphenyls, naphthalene, and monoaromatic compounds.

Azobenzenes are ubiquitous motifs very important in many areas of science. Azo compounds display crucial properties for important applications, mainly for the chemical industry. Because of their discovery, the main application of aromatic azo compounds has been their use as dyes. These compounds are excellent candidates to function as molecular switches because of their efficient cis-trans isom...

Hydrogenation of six model feeds containing three-, two-, and one-ring aromatic compounds was investigated to gain insights into the aromatic hydrogenation reaction chemistry over a commercial NiMo catalyst under practical reaction conditions. The hydrogenation reactivity of the aromatic compounds followed the following order: phenanthrene ∼ two-ring aromatics . one-ring aromatic. Comparison wi...

Aromatic compounds comprise a large class of natural and man-made compounds, many of which are of considerable concern for the environment and human health. In aromatic compound-degrading anaerobic bacteria the central intermediate of aromatic catabolism, benzoyl coenzyme A, is attacked by dearomatizing benzoyl-CoA reductases (BCRs). An ATP-dependent BCR has been characterized in facultative an...

Background: Alpha-amylase is the most important enzyme in the digestion of starch. Activators of this enzyme could be potentially used as digestive aids and its inhibitors block the absorption of starch compounds and result in the control of blood sugar levels. This study aimed at the investigation of aromatic compounds on bovine serum alpha-amylase. Methods: Effect of carvacrol, cumyl phenol, ...

poly(p-n-chlorostyrenesulphonamide) synthesized via direct chlorination of poly[(p-styrene) sulphonamide], can be used for selective chlorination of aromatic compounds. aromatic rings of the anisole, p-xylene, ethylbenzene and toluene are chlorinated with good yields. the polymer can be recovery, rechlorinated and reused several times.

Bioconversion (biotransformation) experiments on arenes (aromatic compounds), including various tricyclic fused aromatic compounds such as fluorene, dibenzofuran, dibenzothiophene, carbazole, acridene, and phenanthridine, were done using the cells of Escherichia coli transformants expressing several arene dioxygenase genes. E. coli carrying the phenanthrene dioxygenase (phdABCD) genes derived f...
