In this paper, an artificial neural network model is proposed to find out the resonant frequency of a metamaterial based Hexagonal Split Ring Resonator (SRR). The main advantage of Hexagonal SRR is small electrical size at resonance (electrically small) in the microwave regime. The method can be used for a wide range of different depending parameters (effective radius of the Hexagonal ring, spl...

Beam-steering techniques are required to fully exploit terahertz imaging systems. We propose and model a device employing artificial dielectric techniques to provide a variable phase-control medium. The device consists of two interlocking artificial dielectric surfaces that are initially aligned parallel to each other. By mechanically introducing a relative tilt between the plates, a transmitte...

methods for measuring toxicity or respiratory activity of microbial cultures can be used as tools for assessing the presence of chemicals and their impact on the streams. the proposed toxicity test is based on the respirometric characteristics of the bacteria according to the principals of biolog’s microplate system. as the microorganism are utilizing the carbon source (peptone), the reductio...

The study of Micro strip patch antenna is proposed by using artificial neural network. The geometry modelled for the study is rectangular patch type which will be mounted on ferrite substrate. The artificial neural network is used to study the modelled micro strip antenna by using synthesis and analytical approach. The relation between different parameter and dimensions of micro strip antenna a...

This article describes a general-purpose programmable substrate designed to allow cognitive modeling systems to interact with off-the-shelf interactive applications. The substrate, called VisMap, improves on conventional approaches, in which a cognitive model interacts with a hand-constructed abstraction, an artificial simulation, or an interface tailored specifically to a modeling system. VisM...

The cytoplasmic membrane is probably the most important physical barrier between microbes and the surrounding habitat. Aminoacylation of the polar head group of the phospholipid phosphatidylglycerol (PG) catalyzed by Ala-tRNA(Ala)-dependent alanyl-phosphatidylglycerol synthase (A-PGS) or by Lys-tRNA(Lys)-dependent lysyl-phosphatidylglycerol synthase (L-PGS) enables bacteria to cope with cationi...

S-Adenosylmethionine (SAM) synthase was engineered for biocatalytic production of SAM and long-chain analogues by rational re-design. Substitution of two conserved isoleucine residues extended the substrate spectrum of the enzyme to artificial S-alkylhomocysteines. The variants proved to be beneficial in preparative synthesis of SAM (and analogues) due to a much reduced product inhibition.

An artificial compound eye imaging system fabricated by microoptics technology is adapted and attached to an optoelectronic sensor array. The thin objective consists of a microlens array on a silica-substrate with a pinhole array of different pitch in its focal plane on the backside. First captured images are presented, resolution and sensitivity are examined.

A patient with Gaucher's disease is described, in whom the disease could not be diagnosed enzymically in liver and leucocytes using artificial substrate 4-methylumbelliferyl beta-glucoside. Normal activity was found in the liver, and about 60% of control activity was determined in the patient's leucocytes. In contrast, when [14C]-N-stearoyl glucocerebroside was employed as a substrate, activity...
