We propose to transfer quantum correlations from atoms to light by Raman scattering of a strong laser pulse on a spin-squeezed atomic sample. We prove that the emission is restricted to a single field mode which perfectly inherits the quantum correlations of the atomic system.

Atomic hydrogen (H) was introduced into steel (AISI 1018 mild steel) by controlled cathodic pre-charging. The resultant steel sample, comprising about 1 ppmw diffusible H, and a reference uncharged sample, were studied using atomic emission spectroelectrochemistry (AESEC). AESEC involved potentiodynamic polarisation in a flowing non-passivating electrolyte (0.6 M NaCl, pH 1.95) with real time r...

This paper reviews the current research on the speciation and determination of mercury by various analytical instruments such as, atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS), voltammeter, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES), ICP-atomic emission spectrometer (AES), ICP-mass spectrometer (MS), atomic fluorescence spectrometer (AFS), spectrophotometer, spectrofluorometer, a...

Using HI absorption spectra taken from the recent surveys of λ21-cm line and continuum emission in the Galactic plane, the distribution of cool atomic clouds in the outer disk of the Milky Way is revealed. The warp of the midplane is clearly seen in absorption, as it is in emission, and the cool, neutral medium also shows flaring or increase in scale height with radius similar to that of the wa...

Fluorescence following optical excitation of the state of prepared on helium 1 3&u` 2 nanodroplets to the predissociative state yields molecular emission from both the 1 3%g and states as well as atomic emission from the expected (B)1 1%u (A)1 1&u` 2 dissociation channel. A D12 cm~1 red shift is observed in the 4 2P3@2, 1@2 4 2S1@2 molecular emission excitation spectrum compared to the atomic e...

Formation of the hydrides of antimony arsenic, bismuth, germanium, lead, selenium, tellurium and tin by reaction with sodium tetrahydroborate0 affords an excellent method for the separation of these elements as gases from a wide range of matrices. Excellent low limits of detection are attained when this separation method is combined with atomisation of the hydride in a heated quartz tube in the...

We calculate the photon emission rate from a general atomic system in the mass-proportional CSL model. For an isolated charged particle emitting kilovolt gamma rays, our results agree with those obtained by Fu. For a neutral atomic system, photon emission is strongly suppressed for photon wavelengths much larger than the atomic radius. However, for kilovolt gamma rays, Fu’s result is modified b...

We study the measurement-induced enhancement of the spontaneous decay for a two-level subsystem, wheremeasurements are treated as couplings between the excited state and an auxiliary state rather than the vonNeumann’s wave function reduction. The photon radiated in a fast decay of the atom, from the auxiliary state to the excited state, triggers a quasi-measurement, as opposed to a projectionme...
