We analyze the recent phenomenon termed a Link Bomb, and investigate the optimal attack pattern for a group of web pages attempting to link bomb a specific web page. The typical modus operandi of a link bomb is to associate a particular page with a search text and then boost that page’s pagerank. (The attacking pages can only control their own content and outgoing links.) Thus, when a search is...

Atomic bomb doses in Hiroshima and Nagasaki have been evaluated by many groups. In the 'Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dosimetry Group' used in this study, radioactivities of l52Eu and 6"Co in exposed rock samples have been measured to evaluate neutron doses both in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These radioactivities were induced by neutron capture reactions. Thermoluminescence dosimetry has also been applied...

The atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 led to the organization of the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC), whose history contains important lessons for epidemiologists concerned with large-scale investigations of problems requiring long-term, prospective study. The history is perhaps all the more meaningful because it is not a linear process starting from a definitive pro...

We discuss the possibility of utilizing the ultra-high energy neutrino beam (≃ 1000TeV) to detect and destroy the nuclear bombs wherever they are and whoever possess them. e-mail:[email protected], Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Hawaii at Manoa, HI, USA e-mail:[email protected], Radiation Science Center of KEK, Tsukuba-shi, Japan e-mail:[email protected], Rad...

ABSTRACT We present a high-resolution seawater radiocarbon (Δ 14 C) record from Porites coral collected Masthead Island in the southern Great Barrier Reef (GBR) covering years 1945–2017. The Δ C values 1945–1953 (pre-bomb era) averaged –49‰. As result of bomb-produced atmosphere, started to rise rapidly 1959, levelled off at ∼131‰ late 1970s and gradually decreased ∼40.3‰ by 2017 due decrease a...

No report has been available regarding organ transplantation for atomic bomb survivors, even with renal graft. We experienced a living-donor liver transplantation for two atomic bomb survivors using grafts from second-generation children. Post transplant course was uneventful without any systemic disorders under regular immunosuppression schema during 3-year follow-up. The detailed results are ...

Carotid-internal jugular venous fistula is one of the rarest presentations among victims of bomb blast injuries. Treatment of such fistula is open surgery with high mortality and morbidity. Endovascular treatment with covered stent seems to have an optimal result with low complications. We present a case report of a bomb blast victim having carotid-jugular venous fistula with hemodynamic compro...

An improved method of counting acoustic emission (AE) events from water-stressed stems of cedar (Thuja occidentalis L.) is presented. Amplified AEs are analyzed on a real time basis by a microcomputer. The instrumentation counts AE events in a fashion nearly analogous to scintillation counting of radioactive materials. The technique was applied to measuring ultrasonic AEs from the stems of cedar...

We have performed a detailed analysis of several hundreds Hα Ellerman bombs in the low chromosphere, above an emerging flux region. We find that Ellerman bombs may be small-scale, low-altitude, magnetic reconnection events that heat the low chromosphere in the active region. Their energy content varies between 10 erg and 10 erg, typical of subflaring activity.
