We theoretically demonstrate the mechanically mediated electromagnetically induced transparency in a two-mode cavity optomechanical system, where two cavity modes are coupled to a common mechanical resonator. When the two cavity modes are driven on their respective red sidebands by two pump beams, a transparency window appears in the probe transmission spectrum due to destructive interference. ...

The three-dimensional field distribution of the diffractive cavity mode structure in an active, open, unstable laser resonator is presented as a function of the equivalent Fresnel number of the cavity. The active cavity mode structures are compared to that of the corresponding passive cavity so that the effects of a spatially extended, homogeneously broadened, saturable gain medium on the cavit...

Wave mixing with a self-induced grating in a saturable absorber, which is inserted into a resonator, gives special filtering behavior. In a linear Fabry-Perot cavity with gain, the grating forms a self-matched, threemirror laser cavity that can discriminate between modes whose frequency difference is much lower than the grating bandwidth. The effect was used to obtain single-mode lasers with na...

Imperfections in the surface of intracavity elements of an optical ring resonator can scatter light from one mode into the counterpropagating mode. The phase-locking of the cavity modes induced by this backscat-tering is a well-known example that notoriously afflicts laser gyroscopes and similar active systems. We experimentally show how backscattering can be circumvented in a unidirectionally ...

We demonstrate a silicon carbide (SiC) microdisk resonator with an intrinsic optical quality factor of 6.19×10(3), fabricated on the 3C-SiC-on-Si platform. We characterize the temperature dependence of the cavity resonance and obtain a thermo-optic coefficient of 2.92×10(-5)/K for 3C-SiC. Our simulations show that the device exhibits great potential for cavity optomechanical applications.

We experimentally study the tunability of cooperativity in coupled spin--cavity systems by changing magnetic state spin system via an external control parameter. As model system, we use skyrmion host material Cu$_2$OSeO$_3$ to a microwave cavity resonator. In different phases measure dispersive coupling between resonator and magnon modes our results using input--output formalism. Our show stron...

After reviewing the limitation by the fine structure constant α of the dimensionless coupling constant of an hydrogenic atomwith amode of the electromagnetic field in a cavity, we show that the situation presents itself differently for an artificial Josephson atom coupled to a transmission line resonator. Whereas the coupling constant for the case where such an atom is placed inside the dielect...

Evanescent mode cavity resonators are desirable for use in tunable filters due to their tuning sensitivity and high quality factors. This paper proposes a system for monitoring and controlling their resonant frequency and examines the effect of the system on resonator performance. The proposed system controls the resonator over a range from 600 to 700 MHz with unloaded quality factors as high a...

The cavity of a particular electron accelerator is analysed thanks to boundary integral equations. Electrons are accelerated several times in the median plane of a single coaxial cavity resonating on its fundamental TEMj mode. The geometry of the conductors is modified to improve the shunt impedance. The proper frequency of the new resonator is calculated thanks to Green's function associated t...
