We show how stroboscopic threshold mechanisms can be effectively employed to obtain a wide range of stable cyclic behavior from chaotic systems, by simply varying the frequency of control. We demonstrate the success of the scheme in a prototypical one-dimensional map, as well as in a three-dimensional system modeling lasers where the threshold action is implemented on any one of the variables. ...

In this paper the chaotic properties of the TCP congestion avoidance mechanism are investigated. The analysis focuses on the origin of the complex behavior appearing in deterministic TCP/IP networks. From the traffic modeling point of view the understanding of the mechanism generating chaos is essential, since present models are unable to cope with this phenomena. Using the basic tools of chaos...

In this paper, we develop algorithms for calculation of fractal measures and characteristic exponents for modeling of chaotic systems evolution. Using temporal localization along phase trajectories of a chaotic attractor reconstructed from nonlinear time series, we achieve the essential reduction of required computer resources that allows the nonlinear analysis algorithms to be realized even fo...

Nowadays study of chaotic quantum billiards because of their relation to Nano technology. In this paper distribution of zeros of wave function on the boundary of two circular and stadium billiards are investigated. By calculating gyration radius for these points chaotic and non-chaotic states are distinguished.

We study a system of delay-differential equations modeling single-lane road traffic. The cars move in a closed circuit and the system's variables are each car's velocity and the distance to the car ahead. For low and high values of traffic density the system has a stable equilibrium solution, corresponding to the uniform flow. Gradually decreasing the density from high to intermediate values we...

We introduce a high dimensional symplectic map, modeling a large system consisting of weakly interacting chaotic subsystems, as a toy model to analyze the interplay between single-particle chaotic dynamics and particles interactions in thermodynamic systems. We study the growth with time of the Boltzmann entropy, SB , in this system as a function of the coarse graining resolution. We show that ...

This paper presents a study of special trajectories attainment for mobile robots based on the dynamical features of chaotic systems. This method of trajectories construction is envisaged for missions for terrain exploration, with the specific purpose of search or patrol, where fast scanning of the robot workspace is required. We propose the imparting of chaotic motion behavior to the mobile rob...

We present a theoretical study of unnested period-doubling islands in three-dimensional rate equations modeling a semiconductor laser subject to external optical injection. In this phenomenon successive curves of period doublings are not arranged in nicely nested islands, but intersect each other. This overall structure is globally organized by several codimension-2 bifurcations. As a consequen...

We report the occurrence of spontaneous synchronizing events between two semiconductor lasers, when the emission of a frequency- and intensity-chaotic driving laser is unidirectionally coupled into a second stable response laser. The driving laser is driven chaotic by delayed optical feedback, the response laser is a device-identical solitary laser. We demonstrate the onset of an episodic synch...

a watermarking scheme for grayscale image isproposed based on a family of the chaotic maps and discretecosine transform. jacobian elliptic mapis employed to encrypt ofwatermarked logo. piecewise nonlinear chaotic map is also usedto determine the location of dct coefficients for the watermarkembedding. the purpose of this algorithm is to improve theshortcoming of watermarking such as small key s...
