BACKGROUND Phenotypic anomalies are common in wild populations and multiple genetic, biotic and abiotic factors might contribute to their formation. Turtles are excellent models for the study of developmental instability because anomalies are easily detected in the form of malformations, additions, or reductions in the number of scutes or scales. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS In this study, ...
The field of prenatal diagnosis of congenital anomalies has had great advances in recent years. Today we are able to diagnose different fetal anomalies in early developmental stages, and correct some of them, through prenatal fetal surgery. In this paper, we begin by describing the advances in surgical treatment of some fetal diseases such as, diaphragmatic hernia, lung sequestration, pleural e...
Jones and Smith 1 coined the term fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) to label a pattern of altered growth and morphogenesis observed in a group of children born to alcoholic mothers. This pattern of dysmorphia included a cluster of facial anomalies (e.g., short palpebral fissures), growth retardation, and evidence of central nervous system (CNS) involvement (e.g., microcephaly and developmental delay...
Given the complexities of the mammalian CNS, its regeneration is viewed as the holy grail of regenerative medicine. Extraordinary efforts have been made to understand developmental neurogenesis, with the hopes of clinically applying this knowledge. CNS regeneration also involves glia, which comprises at least 50% of the cellular constituency of the brain and is involved in all forms of injury a...
Background and Objective: Developmental anomalies of the oral mucosa are a group of lesions that are normal condition rather than having virtual disease characteristic. The prevalence of oral mucosal abnormalities differs between individuals that could be associated to genetic and/or environmental factors. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of these lesions as well as to de...
Our compilation of marine magnetics the Caribbean Plate allows us to identify magnetic anomalies from Cretaceous Normal Superchron (CNS) in Colombia and Venezuela basins, which we propose a model for age origin its Large Igneous Province (CLIP). The comparison selected profiles across these basins with high resolution other areas CNS indicates that Basin formed 73-92 million years ago (Ma) 92-1...
Becker's naevus shows itself as a pigmented area of skin which is aquired , persistant and asymmetrical and sometimes shows evidence of increased androgen sensitivity. Colocalization with other developmental anomalies is reported rarely. We report a 20 year old woman who developed an extensive and bilateral Becker naevus since the age of 12 year and had left breast hypoplasia, too.

The objective of this study was to review literature about the correlation between fetal autopsy and ultrasound findings of fetal malformations. Search in PubMed, Medline, EMBASE, Clinicl trials.org, reference list was performed. Inclusion criteria for studies selection were: fetal autopsy performed after termination of pregnancy (TOP) or stillbirth, TOP for fetal anomalies, prenatal diagnosis ...
