We successfully synthesized SrNb2O6 with nanoplate morphology by a facile hydrothermal method. The SrNb2O6 nanoplate without any promoters or co-catalysts exhibited promising photocatalytic performance for the preferential reduction of CO2 with H2O vapour to CO and CH4 due to its high electron-hole separation and high CO2 chemisorption abilities.

Efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change have led research and industry groups to explore ways of applying existing technologies and practices to the challenge of reducing CO2 emissions. The storage of CO2 in underground geologic reservoirs is one such idea that employs techniques developed for oil and gas production and transmission. For example, CO2 has been injected into petroleum r...

Poly(methoxy(polyethyleneoxy)propyl-co-methacryloxypropyl) silsesquioxane membranes with different copolymer ratios were successfully fabricated via UV-induced crosslinking with mechanical stability. By selectively introducing polyethylene oxide (PEO) groups covalently bound to the ladder-structured polysilsesquioxane, we effectively suppressed the PEO crystallization, allowing for excellent CO...

Hyperventilation following transient, CO2-induced acidosis is ubiquitous in mammals and heritable. In humans, respiratory and emotional hypersensitivity to CO2 marks separation anxiety and panic disorders, and is enhanced by early-life adversities. Mice exposed to the repeated cross-fostering paradigm (RCF) of interference with maternal environment show heightened separation anxiety and hyperve...

Glossary Carbon sequestration: capture and secure storage of carbon that would otherwise be emitted to or remain in the atmosphere. Carbon sources: for this chapter, we are concerned with large stationary sources of CO2, e.g. fossil fueled power plants, cement manufacturing, ammonia production, iron and non-ferrous metal smelters, industrial boilers, refineries, natural gas wells. Carbon captur...

The separation, capture, and storage of CO2 , the major greenhouse gas, from industrial gas streams has received considerable attention in recent years because of concerns about environmental effects of increasing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. An emerging area of research utilizes reversible CO2 sorbents to increase conversion and rate of forward reactions for equilibrium-controlled reac...

Graphene oxide (GO) membranes have shown promising gas separation characteristics that make them of interest for large-scale industrial applications. However, the gas transport mechanism for GO membranes is unclear due to inconsistent permeation and separation results reported in literature. GO membranes examined for gas separation were prepared on substrates and/or by synthesis methods that ar...

This study describes a novel approach to separate three soil carbon (C) sources by one tracer method (here 13C natural abundance). The approach is based on the combination of C3 and C4 sources in different treatments, identical decomposition of C3 and C4 substances in soil, and subsequent calculation of their contribution to the total CO2 efflux. We used the temporal dynamics of the CO2 efflux ...

The article describes data concerning the separation performances of polymeric hollow-fiber membranes. The data were obtained using a model for simulating gas separation, described in the research article entitled "Interplay of inlet temperature and humidity on energy penalty for CO2 post-combustion capture: rigorous analysis and simulation of a single stage gas permeation process" (L. Giordano...
