Björner and Wachs generalized the definition of shellability by dropping the assumption of purity; they also introduced the h-triangle, a doubly-indexed generalization of the h-vector which is combinatorially significant for nonpure shellable complexes. Stanley subsequently defined a nonpure simplicial complex to be sequentially Cohen-Macaulay if it satisfies algebraic conditions that generaliz...

et  be a commutative Noetherian ring,  and  two ideals of  and  a finite -module. In this paper, we have studied the vanishing and relative Cohen-Macaulyness of the functor for relative Cohen-Macauly filtered modules with respect to the ideal  (RCMF). We have shown that the for relative Cohen-Macaulay modules holds for any relative Cohen-Macauly module with respect to  with ........

For finitely generated module M over a local ring R, the conventional notions of complete intersection dimension CI-dimRM and CohenMacaulay dimension CM-dimRM do not extend to cover the case of infinitely generated modules. In this paper we introduce similar invariants for not necessarily finitely generated modules, (namely, complete intersection flat and Cohen-Macaulay flat dimensions) which f...

For the Spencer δ-cohomologies of a symbolic system we construct a spectral sequence associated with a subspace. We calculate the sequence for the systems of Cohen-Macaulay type and obtain a reduction theorem, which facilitates computation of δ-cohomologies by reducing dimension of the system. Using this algebraic result we prove an efficient compatibility criterion for a system of two scalar n...

Let (R,m) be a Cohen–Macaulay local ring and let I be an ideal. There are at least five algebras built on I whose multiplicity data affect the reduction number r(I) of the ideal. We introduce techniques from the Rees algebra theory of modules to produce estimates for r(I), for classes of ideals of dimension one and two. Previous cases of such estimates were derived for ideals of dimension zero.

This paper addresses problems related to the existence of arithmetic Macaulayfications of projective schemes. Let Y be the blow-up of a projective scheme X = Proj R along the ideal sheaf of I ⊂ R. It is known that there are embeddings Y ∼ = Proj k[(I e) c ] for c ≥ d(I)e + 1, where d(I) denotes the maximal generating degree of I, and that there exists a Cohen-Macaulay ring of the form k[(I e) c...

We define semi-pointed partition posets, which are a generalisation of partition posets and show that they are Cohen-Macaulay. We then use multichains to compute the dimension and the character for the action of the symmetric groups on their homology. We finally study the associated incidence Hopf algebra, which is similar to the Faà di Bruno Hopf algebra.
