In this paper we discuss technology appropriation in the context of close personal relationships. We review literature that reveals how collaborative appropriation is a natural and necessary feature of technology adoption by relational partners. We then advance a position whereby appropriations in close relationships can be characterised as a form of discretionary effort investment. We end by r...

Intracellular recordings obtained under cutaneous and lemniscal stimulation show that the afferent fibers can establish excitatory and inhibitory synaptic connections with cuneothalamic neurons [5]. In addition, distinct types of recurrent collaterals with the capability of either exciting or inhibiting both cuneothalamic neurons and interneurons were also discovered [6]. With these data we hav...

We present an anisotropic diffusion equation designed to restore interferometric images. It has two main purposes. the first is to preserve the structures and discontinuities formed by the fringes. The second is to incorporate the noise modeling which is specific to this kind of images. Besides we show that our model formalizes previous related work in interferometry filtering.

This article addresses the issue of cultural influence in ontology design and reuse. The main assumption is that an ontology is not only a socio-technical artefact but also a cultural artefact. It contains embedded assumptions, core values, points of view, beliefs, thought patterns, etc. Based on results already found in several design fields the authors formulate some preliminary hypotheses ab...

We describe a recommender system which uses a unique combination of content-based and collaborative methods to suggest items of interest to users, and also to learn and exploit item semantics. Recommender systems typically use techniques from collaborative filtering, in which proximity measures between users are formulated to generate recommendations, or content-based filtering, in which users ...

Item recommendation from implicit, positive only feedback is an emerging setup in collaborative filtering in which only one class examples are observed. In this paper, we propose a novel method, called User Graph regularized Pairwise Matrix Factorization (UGPMF), to seamlessly integrate user information into pairwise matrix factorization procedure. Due to the use of the available information on...

This study seeks to assess the impact of collaborative technologies on innovation at the firm level. Collaborative technologies’ influence on innovation is considered here as a multistage process that starts at adoption and extends to use. Thus, the effect of collaborative technologies on innovation is examined not only directly, the simple presence of collaborative technologies, but also based...
