We present a prototype biosensor suitable for selective detection of analytes and controlled release of metabolic drug molecules. The device consists of microfabricated PDMS channels on glass with two microchambers (sensing and delivery) filled with ribonucleic acid aptamer responsive media. Using adenosine monophosphate (AMP) as an analyte and drug molecule, we demonstrate detection of trace a...

background; dithiocarbamates, the main group of fungicides, are used to control about 400 pathogens in more than 70 crops. these pesticides are widely applied to crops including potato, cereal, apple, pear and leafy vegetables throughout the world since 1960. from the late 1980s, using these fungicides has caused much debate among regulators about their long-term effects on consumers and occupa...

We present a novel fluorescent aptasensor for simple and accurate detection of adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity and inhibition on the basis of graphene oxide (GO) using adenosine (AD) as the substrate. This aptasensor consists of a dye-labeled single-stranded AD specific aptamer, GO and AD. The fluorescence intensity of the dye-labeled AD specific aptamer is quenched very efficiently by GO as...

A novel attempt was made to develop a disposable multifunctional sensor for analysis of vaccinia virus (VACV), a promising oncolytic agent that can replicate in and kill tumor cells. Briefly, we developed aptamers specific to VACV that were negatively selected against human serum as well as human and mouse blood to be further utilized for viral analysis directly in serum and blood. In addition,...

By rationally employing enzymes for signal amplification, an ultrasensitive aptasensor was developed and successfully tested in a system designed to detect lysozyme with a detection limit of 0.1 fM. This detection limit is nearly three orders of magnitude lower than those of any previously reported DNAzyme-based aptasensors.

A simple modular aptamer-based sensor (aptasensor) platform was prepared by combining the merits of the rapid and efficient preparation of a self-assembled monolayer of cucurbit[7]uril (CB[7] SAM) and the strong and specific binding affinity of CB[7] to ferrocenemethylammonium (FA), as an ultrastable supramolecular linker, to immobilize aptamers on CB[7] SAM.

A novel surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) assay is demonstrated by developing a cross strand-displacement amplification (CSDA) method to enhance the SERS signals. Highly sensitive and selective detection of any single-stranded DNA is achieved and an aptasensor for proteins is constructed.

Specific nucleic acid aptamers using the microtiter plate based modified SELEX method against explosive trinitrotoluene are reported. Efficient partitioning of dsDNA was carried out using streptavidin labeled gold nanoprobes for the selection of specific aptamers. The selected binders having an affinity of ~10(-7) M were used in the newly developed electrochemical aptasensor, exhibiting a detec...

To remedy the problems caused by the introduction of an additional electron mediator and realize signal amplification, a new strategy has been presented to construct an electrochemical aptasensor for thrombin detection based on the cascade electrocatalysis of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and Pt nanoparticle (PtNP)-functionalized ZnO nanoflowers.

We present a nanoplasmonic aptasensor for adenosine triphosphate (ATP) by using single gold nanoparticles (GNPs) as probes. The specific aptamer-ATP binding induced conformational change could modulate the surface-dependent self-catalytic growth of GNPs, which enabled the detection of ATP with ultra-sensitivity and selectivity.
